When will the Weight be over, sheesh

So after seeing rather unflattering pictures of myself I’m feeling rather down…I feel fat and bleugh and blah and like all my eating healthy and trying to exercise is not working!!! really? you mean after all the effort I still look like this? I mean I said no to brownies people BROWNIES!!! and I do salads when every fiber of my being says, you bet your bum I’ll have fries with that and onion rings too please.
I’ve made an effort to do some sort of physical activity everyday, I should be looking better sheesh

apparently YES

I know I know, I have the liver problem and the insulin resistance to deal with so weight loss was never going to be easy . . . also I chose the lifestyle change instead of the crash diet
I know the words on this annoyingly fit lady’s tummy are true, I get that

and there is merit in this annoying poster as well

I’m hoping I can keep on keeping on, it’s just so tough this whole thing…

I never had issues with my weight, seriously if you scroll down to before I had kids it’s like a whole other person, like someone pressed BOLD on my profile picture!!!
According to this cool simulator I found … Model My Diet
This is what current weight looks like compared to my goal  –
I kept in mind my health and the body changes of pregnancy and don’t think I’m asking for too much!

Well now that my whiny fest is over, it’s time to recommit to my journey… What works best for me is MyFitnessPal maybe it’s having to type in what I eat that makes me feel bad and put down the brownie, step away from the fudge (I have a sweet tooth, in case you couldn’t tell)
What works best for you?
I wish defusing tantrums burned calories, I’d be flippen transparent!

5 Yoga Beginner Tips to squash any intimidation in the yoga class.

You know the yoga with Michelle from Feel Good Yoga posts I told you we would be starting? I told you HERE remember well today is the official start 🙂

Michelle Says:

As a beginner it may be daunting having a class full of regulars surrounding you flowing to the cues given and leaving you feeling completely out of sorts as your left becomes your right and that darn leg won’t move into the same position as the rest of the class. Well here are a few tips to keep you semi sane and to give you that ease to soak up the benefits of yoga as opposed to soaking up the fear.

1. Wear comfortable clothing : Have you ever had those butt munching panties on with hanging lose tops that shows your underwear every time you do a forward bend? Never fun, and not needed on top of all else that you are still settling into. Try wearing just tights (no panties), a tight fitting sleeveless top and a loose airy flowing top over top to make you feel covered and not overly exposed. You will be able to flow easily from one posture to the next and not have to worry about showing off those wobbly bits to the person behind you. (Yes, we all have wobbly bits).
 2. Join a Back to Basics workshop where your yoga teacher can go through the alignment of each posture focusing on the core adjustments needed to prevent injury and suit your body type.
3. Get to class at least 10 minutes before: By arriving early, you have the upper hand to place your mat in your desired space. Lie, close eyes listening to your breathe and settling the body. We do yoga to withdraw from the stresses of everyday life and what better way to start a yoga class than to quieten the thoughts and sink into that zen mode to work deep into your practice.
 4. Talk to your yoga teacher: the reason you are attending a class at a studio is because you have a professional there to help you. There are plenty You Tube vids out there teaching yoga, however having someone guide you and help you adapt your body type into a yoga pose is what makes class attendance so much more reassuring.
5. If you feel that group classes are just not working out for you, private classes are also available. Here, your yoga practitioner can adapt the class to your needs, up the level or sooth the practice depending on how you feel, what you desire to achieve come the end of your class and so forth. The greatest gift that yoga has to offer you is the gift of living in the present and becoming mindful of the magnificent being that you are. Not only do you become internally aware, your external apparent will change too by becoming more beautiful, bright and energetic.

Well done on gifting yourself with yoga and watch overtime how the authentic you starts shining through.

– If you are in the PE area get in touch with Michelle, she even does yoga for kids which has had raving reports

Join us for some yoga…

So a while back I did a story for the paper on this really cool yoga studio (among other things they teach yoga to kids for increased concentration, self control and a host of other things) The woman I interviewed really struck a cord with me – I’m weird like that – some people I just know instinctively are good souls and I usually end up cyber stalking until they become my friend or run away… any who I had a brilliant idea… why not have her do a few guest posts, I used to do yoga and LOVED it and with all the changes in my life I definitely need something to keep me focused (apart from prayer – church girl over here)…
so join me in welcoming Michelle from feelgoodyoga OVER HERE she will be sharing her knowledge over the next couple of weeks…
Allow the beautiful mom of two to introduce herself and join us over the next few Saturdays for some enlightenment 🙂

totally stole this pic

From Michelle:

What is the hype about?…
Finally, yoga has made its mark in our community and Yoga got a strong leg up on the world stage when Prime Minister Narendra Modi from India, called for observing an International Yoga Day, describing the ancient science as “India’s gift to the world.”

Modi’s unexpected reference to yoga in his UN General Assembly speech came when he was talking about climate change and going back to basics. “Yoga is not just about fitness or exercise, it is about changing one’s lifestyle”. And that is exactly what it does.
I stumbled upon yoga when I was studying my Media Studies Diploma. My creativity of advertising lecturer gave us a 101 day assignment focused on being taken out of your comfort zone and trying something new. Yoga is what I chose to do and that is when the magic took place, the swish of an idea turned into a mind altering wonderland.
At that time of my life, I was suffering from depression. After the 101 days of doing yoga, I was one step closer to combating the illness. 13 years later, I now own my own yoga studio, work for a nationwide successful advertising company and there is never a dull moment or thought that enters my mind. I thank my yoga journey for that and am so excited to share all that I have learnt through those years with each and every one of you.

 Here we go…

Exercise and other things I lie about

So I need to lose weight, roughly the equivilent of Miley Cyrus and at least two one direction band memebers…
Okay in all seriousness I need to lose 20kgs, my stomach just turned typing that, how is this possible? how is that tiny little thing people used to tease because she was so small, how does she need to amputate a leg and half an arm to be at her goal weight?!?!
Not even her goal weight, the goal weight set by doctors for optimum health!!!
The insulin resistance diet didn’t go all that well in December, I became one of THOSE people
plain yogurt for breakfast, carrot sticks for lunch, the entire fridge for supper…
and a woolies food opened near my house, so ja that’s not my fault!
But I hate feeling uncomfortable in my skin, and I hate that so much of my cute clothes don”t fit.
Also I’m at risk of becoming diabetic and the damage from my two emergency c-sections means I have NO core strength… So there needs to be less quantity to ensure quality around here
last week I started eating better and exercising…  I work fairly long hours and live almost an hour away, so you best believe I have no energy for the gym and riding an imaginary bike or rowing and imaginary boat by the time that I get home… and Aidan has been without me the whole day and get’s very needy.
So now I do a form of toddler exercise… I walk him around the block on his push bike and jump with him on his trampoline (technically I put my rebounder by his play trampoline and we jump together, it’s actually helping with his counting…2 birds one stone)
I want to try out some exercise DVD’s with him as well, because he loves to dance and would think I’m just dancing….
also my dad and I are starting a elliptical challenge tonight, the most minutes racked up in the week wins…. It’s going to be me!!!!
Have an awesome week all!
