Seven years and counting

It’s national wedding day!!! okay not really but seriously we share our anniversary with a crazy amount of people in fact this is the first time in like four years we are not celebrating our anniversary at someone elses wedding, hehe. In honour of seven years of putting up with each other I thought I’d share some pics of our big day… I added a little video clip at the end and yes that’s me singing 🙂 I get so girly sometimes

Five years and counting . . .

Yesterday we celebrated our 5th anniversary at a wedding, coincidentally it was the wedding of the person who first introduced Robin and myself, his cousin and my friend, Luchae…(luchae and I initially bonded over a love of singing and a peculiar pre-teen rebellious streak – We both used to read with torches under the covers after “lights out”)  With Rob in army she thought we should chat as she felt we have a similar sense of humour. . . The rest is history…
Can’t believe it has been 5 years already, actually I can’t believe it has only been 5 years. We have weathered so many storms from unemployment, different shifts (I was at home at night and him during the day), a long distance marriage (when he went to police academy)  illnesses, fights, family drama, losing our son, almost losing my own life, losing his dad and my God mother, financial issues created by funerals and medical bills, our newborn struggling to breath and spending the longest week of my life in the same NICU where his brother died  .  . . But also promotions and a new car and a new baby and great friends and amazing family and trying out new recipes together and going on family trips and putting our faith in God as a family and learning to cope with a colicky turned happy hyper baby and late night binges followed by guilt fuelled gym sessions and  . . .
I feel very blessed to have found someone who GETS ME! And supports me, isn’t afraid to dissagree with me or say sorry…Like the song goes “I’d rather have bad times with you than good times with someone else”
Looking super young five years ago

Our first trip as a family :)

We went on our first official family holiday this weekend and had A BLAST! I love game farms but have only ever gone to stay for work, so really wanted to share the experience with Rob & Aidy (yes Aidan didn’t care one way or the other) We opted for Kragga Kamma Nature Reserve because they promised luxury accommodation and animals right around our lodge ,it’s close and the reviews were great, also as game farms go it’s really not pricey AT ALL . Must say WE LOVED IT!!! The first eve already I noticed a rustling in the bushes outside our place and guess what, there was a herd (I think herd is right word-small family really) of Nyala just outside our lounge and we woke up to different foot prints in our front yard and giraffe watching us from a short distance away (Probably amused  by the wild haired woman rushing about to find the camera she swears she just had in her hand) It was so amazing. Aidan even stared in wide-eyed wonder and tried to call both zebra and giraffe to him like they were domestic pets and went silent with shock when these giant birds (ostriches) came to check out our braai (thank goodness we weren’t making ostrich steak, awkward much, hehehe  â€¦We could do game drives whenever we felt like (except for after 6 because then the animals run the show-even more so than usual) walking away from your cabin/lodge and so forth is frowned on, GAME DRIVES people not GAME WALKS…they have a quaint yet sturdy bridge which connects the different accommodations and leads to the bush cafĂ© it also leads to a cosy entertainment area where log cabins surround a fire pit, perfect for singing Kumbaya around a bonfire while making smores (if you are into that sorta thing)  We had so much fun!!!
Will def go back when Aidan is bigger and appreciates it more also take friends with… The picture opportunities are amazing! See my pics attached (very chuffed with my nature shots)

Do you believe in dreams?

25facts.com

A friend mentioned to me this morning that I’m so blessed to have God speak to me in dreams, I never thought of it like that, I know that I have pretty vivid dreams but recently they seem to have a link to my life (or I like to think they do)

Like about two weeks ago I dreamt that I only had 10days left with Rob before he died, so we were making this list of things to do before he had to go, a bucket list of sorts.  The next morning I told him about the dream and he calculated that 10 days referred to day he would be travelling back home from a ceremony in Pretoria.
This freaked him out a bit and we started praying vigilantly, a friend of his actually backed out of trip because of bad feeling. So yesterday, DAY 10, they travel back and low and behold, they are involved in an accident, a piece of lumber fell of a truck ahead of them hitting the taxi they were travelling in, it was a very close call, but no one was hurt! The vehicle was damaged and they added a couple of hours to their trip but that’s it…. I like to think God was telling us to watch out J

Then last night I dream of our baby, this busy little girl with her mother’s talent of turning a clean room into chaos in seconds, she had dark hair and a round face and somehow I just recognized her, this is such a different experience from when I was pregnant with Logan, I dreamt of him as a young man of about 20 and never in the dream could I see his face (pretty sure I blogged about it then) I kept trying to see him but never could, he just walked away surrounded by all these kids that were looking up to him and I remember telling my mom the next morning that he looked like such “a nice person” someone I could be proud of…. How weird and different is that…. I like to think last nights dream means that we will be able to watch our baby grow up. J

I know you could say I’m looking into things that don’t exist and that my dreams are all a coincidence but I prefer to think of it as a Godincidence!
