The shock of hair loss and expert advice

I’ve recently experienced significant “I can see your scalp buddy” hair loss and I’m shook. Having started on the creamy crack (relaxer) pretty young, I know all about hair breaking off and leaving unattractive patches but in all my (soon to be 33 years) I have never seen an actual bald spot on my head and it made me catch all kinds of feelings.

I remember standing staring at myself in the bathroom mirror with tears streaming down my face because “what the heck!” I’ve since calmed down and received advice from a beauty blogger, a homeopath, and a hair stylist…The advice below, but first a little on why I freaked the f out…

Let Littleworld help you give your child the world (R20 000 bursary competition)

Imagine winning an R20 000 bursary for your child’s’ education!!!

School is expensive! There is the stationery, the uniform, the extra murals and that’s not even touching on the actual fees and the fundraising so you’d be silly not to be salivating at the idea of winning Woolworths’ Littleworld bursary competition.

Honestly, this is something I would LOVE to win.  Aidan – readers of this blog might have noticed – is a very precocious child. He loves learning way more than I thought possible, just the other day he told me that he thinks its amazing that there is something to learn from everything you do and everyone you meet – even teachers, hahaha. Hearing those kinds of words from my 4-year-old means that education is always on my mind. I want to give him the best and let’s be real, that often means money money money, so winning some would come in pretty handy.

DIY a Valentine’s Day t-shirt with a difference

In need of a Valentine’s Day t-shirt?  If you have a child whose daily schedule still includes finger paints or building blocks, I am going to guess yes. Schools are big on dressing for the occasion, which is usually red and white, but I decided to be a little extra this year, I ditched the red and white and made Aidan a Valentine’s Day t-shirt with a difference

What make’s it a Valentine’s Day shirt in my opinion is the big’ol heart nose and the fact that it is both the “animal he loves” as well as the “colour he loves” – you can use this technique and tweak it to suit the wearer.

Does The Lunch Box service work for picky eaters?

My, the lunch box experiment:

What happens if you give the pickiest eater in the world access to different snack options for a month? They turn up their nose and ask for butter toast like they have been for the last 365 days and you end up having to tell the lunch box people who generously sponsored a months worth of snacks to you, that perhaps they should find a kid with a more refined palate…mine thinks a roti with ice-cream is a thing.

Thank goodness that didn’t happen by some miracle our experiment was a success…well sort off…

Toilet fizz bombs – ideal for grey water use

I’m going to go ahead and assume you guys are aware of the water restrictions and are using grey water for things like flushing the toilet and watering plants…right! I mean you are trying to flush as little fresh water down the toilet as possible, right?

In case you did not know, Grey water is recycled water made up of bath, shower, bathroom sink and washing machine water.

Having this water stagnant for a long time can have a stuffy smell (I don’t know how best to describe it) but these toilet bombs help keep your toilet fresh as you try to save the world one flush at a time (I’m partially kidding, but honestly every little helps)
