Seven years and counting

It’s national wedding day!!! okay not really but seriously we share our anniversary with a crazy amount of people in fact this is the first time in like four years we are not celebrating our anniversary at someone elses wedding, hehe. In honour of seven years of putting up with each other I thought I’d share some pics of our big day… I added a little video clip at the end and yes that’s me singing 🙂 I get so girly sometimes

Kid friendly musical in PE this week

Growing up one of my all time favourite things to do was sing along to Disney classics. You remember those Video Cassette tapes (yes I am old) that featured a bouncy ball for you to sing along with? I LOVED THAT!

My cousin (Che-lynn) and I particularly LOVED annoying everyone by singing along at the top of our lungs (still kind of do). We are now parents to equally (if not more so) dramatic kids (Practically besties, Aidan and Kirsten) so music still sprints in the family.

Imagine how excited I was to learn that The PE Gilbert & Sullivan Society and PEMADS are presenting a family show entitled Music!Movies! Magic! A show set to  bring together  local talent to perform hits songs from children’s movie classics!!!

Music! Movies! Magic will be directed by Yolande Farrow and Rose Cowpar with choreography by Bennie Gerber and some amazing vocals directed by Ann Yates and Richard Campbell.  With a cast of  28 ranging in age from 7 to 50 something.

Music will be sampled from such classics as Mary Poppins, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King to the recent smash hits Frozen, Tangled and The Lego Movie. They are promising something for everyone.

Music! Movies! Magic! runs from tomorrow (December 16) until Saturday (December 19) at the Savoy Theatre nightly at 7.00pm with a matinee on Saturday.

Tickets are on sale now at all Computicket outlets at just R70 for adults and R50 for children

Purple hair, copy cats and fancy dresses

I had a rather eventful weekend so thought I would share it in pics 🙂

On Thursday my youngest cousin came over to keep Aidan busy while I worked
They decorated biscuits with coloured coconut and it was quite a hit.
Check out my instagram for how I made the coconut
On Thursday I also decided to do a purple colour wash, so yes I now have purplish hair 🙂
Caleb came to hang out for a bit
Then that evening two of my cousins came over and we sat outside drinking wine and doing nothing – DOING NOTHING FTW
The doing nothing was short lived, as I had a ton of sewing to get through.
So the next day, Robin took Aidan to the local pool so I could get some work done
He was quite upset that Caleb could not join them so insisted we set up a “pool” for them to swim at home. These two are just too cute together (when they are not fighting)
Seriously how cute
My Christmas present came early 🙂 Rob Got me a subscription to Little Black Bag and I’m looking forward to what comes next
I finished off my Christmas rush orders this weekend !!! But naturally Aidan needed to be set up with work . This is basically how I get things done, give him tasks to complete like beading or lacing and we “work together”.
YEAH!!! ready for delivery
My cousin, Nicole, had a red carpet themed 21st party on Saturday evening. Loads of fun!
We had a sleep in on Sunday morning… Totally missed church, oops
I did some meal prep for the week, This is spinach, mushrooms, bacon and cheese that will become
my breakfast for the week.
I’m trying to eat bigger breakfasts so I am less inclined to eat the world at lunch
Aidan’s imagination is beyond cute right now, he is always on some mission and builds tools for himself out of legos. Yesterday he built a robot to fight bad guys and then turned the robot into a coffee machine and served his dad and I
Oh I added something fun to my office/studio space wall.
Good to remember!

Foodie Fri-Dae (Spinach and mushroom omelette)

Omelettes are awesome!!! and Davene is awesome for sharing her favourite omelette recipe with us. I’m not sure when it started, but I really love omelettes. It’s also great for making a meal with what you have left in the fridge 😉

Spinach & Mushroom Omelettes

Serves 1. Tip: Multiply the ingredients depending on how many people you’d like to serve

WHAT YOU NEED

– ¼ bunch of spinach, lightly shredded by hand
– 3 eggs (I prefer removing two of the yolks as it’s less fattening.  You can leave it if you — prefer). gently whisked and seasoned.
– 5 mushrooms sliced
– 4 tablespoons of olive oil
– 6 shavings of mozzarella cheese or ¼ cup of grated mozzarella cheese
– Seasoning (I used Ina Paarmen’s Chilli & Garlic)

TIP: Unless you know your way around a pan really well, I’d advise you use a non-stick pan for this

METHOD

In a large pan, add two tablespoons of olive oil and allow it to heat up.  Add spinach in one half of the pan & mushrooms in the other half. Add seasoning.  Stir as necessary.  When mushrooms are soft and spinach is ready.  Remove from pan.  If either the mushrooms or spinach sticks to the pan, wash the pan thoroughly before frying the egg.  If not, it’s not necessary.  Add the remaining olive oil and allow it to heat up.  Ensure the entire base of the pan is covered. Add the egg and put on the lid.  Once all of the egg is cooked, flip the egg over and add the mushrooms & spinach to the one half of the egg.  Add the mozzarella and cover with the other half of egg.  Put the lid on for a minute then remove omelette and plate it.

Hair tips from curly girls

So last weekend I went to the first annual curls in the city event. A get together of like minded people (curly girls/naturals/bos kop people )  to chat, get tips and bond over our hair triumphs and struggles. I didn’t get pics (crazy right) so stole this one from fellow blogger Ruth.

I just know the second one will be even better and I’m booking my seat now already.

As we chatted I made some mental notes from the naturals to share with you all…Some you know, some you might not 🙂
