My weekend in reverse

I think these Monday catch up things have become a must, weekends go by so quickly it’s nice to look back and see that even though it sure feels like it, you didn’t actually just wink and were back at work.

I had to leave this face and go to work on Sunday…. enter working mom’s guilt here
The day before we did some crafting, Aidan is so good about packing his craft supplies away
Sometimes in the middle of a project he will be all, away away, I put away
Before that I had breakfast made by my one love, Robin, while watching my other love, Aidan, play
Happy Valentine’s day to me 🙂
I made Aidan an old school string phone as a Valentines’s treat, he loved it but couldn’t quite grasp
the keep string tight when talking thing
We painted some jacaranda seed pods and turned them into monsters
The night before I was at t 50 shades of grey cocktail party with these cute shoes…
I’m not really into the 50 shades hype and haven’t read a book or watched the movie, but I do like a cocktail party
Sexy heels at 50 shades of Grey
My friend kinda sprung the whole party idea on me, this is how I intended on spending Friday – yes that is camp rock and I am in my jammies

1 minute gluten and “sugar” free chocolate pots

So today marks day one of my FOODIE FRIDAY series
Since being diagnosed as insulin deficient I have had to make quite a few changes and have had to learn to make “safe” foods, I thought why not take you guys with me on the journey of finding yummy guilt free foods…
My recipes are mostly from the internet and magazine’s which I then alter to suit my needs…
This one was inspired by THIS

First one!!!

Gluten free “sugarless” chocolate pots

Yummy yummy 🙂

WHAT YOU NEED:

2 tablespoon cocoa
1/4 spoon baking powder
one egg
1 tablespoon of sweetener (your choice)
Block of sugar free chocolate
Mix everything

put into containers , I used two small bowls and popped a piece of chocolate in each
Before popping into microwave for one minute (just a minute I swear)
Added some flake on top for Robin – The recipe makes for fluffy cakes but slightly dry so the addition of the chocolate counters that nicely….VERY chocolaty and just around 100 calories, 60 without chocolate

Used same recipe with choc chips to make a brownie for Aidan’s Valentine’s picnic at school today
not sure how it held up, the others were eaten out of the oven….

I got a Liebster Award!!! yeah me :)

So when I got the nomination for the Liebster award this morning I kind of fan girled! It’s my first actual award (I usually get honourable mentions, hehe) Also it was Maz from Caffeine and Fairydust who nominated me and that’s awesome because she is awesome and it’s sort of like when the popular girls at school ACTUALLY KNOW YOUR NAME and it’s all, be cool, be cool and you just do a head nod but inside you are like ooooooh look at me I’m cool by association . . . they like me they really really like me HAHAHA
LIEBSTER AWARD RULES:
·         Thank and link the person who nominated you.
·         Answer the questions given by the nominator.
·         Nominate 11 other bloggers, who have less than 200 followers and link them.)
·         Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer
·         Notify all nominees via social media/blogs.
So firstly thanx Maz you made my day J
Here is my answers to your questions:
 1.      How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
25 this one is weirdly easy to answer, my mind thinks I’m 25, I think I mentally stopped aging then
2.      Do you push the elevator button more than once?  Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster?
I don’t think it makes it go faster, I stand there and think, “wait did I press it? I didn’t hey” just in case *press* “wait did I press it? I didn’t hey” just in case *press*
3.      Would you rather want to be able to speak any language or play any instrument?
Language, I envy people who speak many languages – I have tried, but apart from speaking English and Afrikaans and the barest of necessities in French and understanding enough Xhosa to politely reply to greetings, board a taxi, buy a loaf of bread, give dirty looks when I’m mentioned – I just can’t seem to pick up languages , ask the people who have tried to teach me, I suck
4.      Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?
Well I’m already a worried genius 😉 okay I’m worried and that makes me a simpleton so I managed to be both
5.      Sam or Dean? (Supernatural)
This one is funny because when  a friend and I first met my husband and his brother we mentioned how much they are like Sam and Dean, seriously the one even has lighter hair and is physically bigger and more serious like Dean  the other is darker, more boyish and  just like Sam – I married Dean
6.      Would you rather be a dragon or have a dragon?
Have you watched how to train your dragon? Because then uhm they are AWESOME and I could fly it and I could roast marshmallows on it’s breath and it would just rock.
7.      Always be slightly over-dressed or always be slightly under-dressed?
over dressed because it’s much easier to take off some bling than to look natural in flops when everyone is in heels.
8.      What is your greatest fear?
Losing Aidan, losing Logan shook me to the core and I don’t want to investigate whether or not I could survive another loss
9.      What is the funniest thing you have ever heard?
I was accused of harassing people today, by people who could roll me in a ball and post me to Antarctica, THEY felt harassed, that’s funny
10.  What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
I wish that racism wasn’t so prevalent , I want to live in a world where we can like and dislike people without racial predigest. The underlying racism is the worst for me, when people don’t even realise what they are saying,  I want comments like, pretty for a black girl, nice for a white girl, smart for a coloured girl . . . . . .  to never be spoken
11.  When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?
Sheesh I hope not, I try to leave my mark even if it’s in a small way, I want people to know that I’m there for them, I want to leave a footprint of caring and love
This was difficult because many of the people I wanted to nominate were recently nominated L
so I thought why not take the 11 people who I have featured on my blog most recently because I love their blogs, so if you get a double award, yeah for you 😉  but if you cant answer I understand 🙂
You might even have more than 200 followers but not sure how to check
Here are your questions girls 🙂
1.       What is the lamest joke you know?
2.       What is your guilty pleasure?
3.       Would you go shopping in your undies if it meant everything you buy is free?
4.       Would you rather be invisible or be able to read minds?
5.       If you could only have one breakfast for the rest of your life what would it be?
6.       What are you scared of but are kind of embarrassed to tell people ?
7.       What is your favourite childhood memory?
8.       What is the very first thing you do when you wake up?
9.       What question do you dread the most?
10.   Do you have any party tricks?
11.   If you could be remembered for one thing what would you want it to be?

When you fall pregnant before your friend does…

Pregnancy Awareness Week – 10-16 February 2015
You tell those closest to you, but then there’s that friend or couple. The one you’ve spent so many months with helping mop up her tears, feeding her chocolate and telling her that next month will be her month.
So how do you tell someone you care so much about that you’ve ‘jumped the queue’? That you’re pregnant but she remains without her much desired baby?
For your friends or family members that are battling with infertility, your pregnancy announcement may be a painful blow to them. When someone is dealing with infertility, every pregnancy announcement reminds them of what they are unable to have.
Some couples that have been trying for a baby for longer than it’s taken other couples to create an entire family – and it can feel very unfair. Many men and women feel completely isolated or somewhat left behind as their friends move into the family phase of their lives.
“As a company that produces Prelox, a supplement for male infertility, we have an acute understanding of the fact that infertility is a great life crisis that needs to be addressed with kindness, compassion, and thoughtfulness.” says Edward Haefele, Brand Manager at Lamelle Pharma.
He continues, “ Given this scenario among your friends, we advise that you take a little time to consider how to tell those friends about your pregnancy. We have thought of some useful hints to help you break the happy news to your friends while still being sensitive to their emotions.”
1.           Let your friends be the first to know.
Don’t make a make a broad announcement on social media  or in front of a big group of friends or family before you let them in on your secret.. This will enable your friends to process their emotions first and not feel blindsided or unprepared for the announcement in a public setting.
     2.       Don’t hide it from your friends in an effort to protect them.
If your friend finds out that you’ve kept it from her, she won’t feel protected; she may feel betrayed.
     3.       Be very gentle when you tell your friends.
You might even tell her over the phone or in an email so she can react the way she needs to. This will help her tofeel what she needs to first. This is not about you or her not being happy for you, so try not to be upset. Understand that your pregnancy reminds her of her own loss.
     4.       Don’t put pressure on your friends. If they don’t call you back or talk to you for a week or so, just check in with her via email or text. Give them a little time and space.
     5.       Don’t focus purely on babies when you talk to her.
It’s understandable that it is the  center of your world right now and without a doubt your friends are happy for you, but taking about babies 24/7 only serves as a constant reminder of their own battles. If your friends tell you that they wants to know and wants to talk about it with you then by all means, do it. Let her take the lead in how much or how little she wants to know.
     6.       Be patient and kind.
Just be patient, kind, understanding and open. Tell them that you are there for them and remember to do nothing more than just listen. Whatever you do, don’t try to give advice. Women who are dealing with infertility know way more about getting pregnant than women who get pregnant after 1-6 months of trying.
7.  Invite them to the Baby Shower But Give them an Easy Out
A mistake some often make is not inviting their friend or relative to the baby shower. It’s true that baby showers are often difficult for the them, but not being invited is also painful. Instead, invite them, but be clear that you understand if she’d rather not attend or wants give a gift at a later time.

A little Aidan catch up before his second birthday

I have a little chatterbox a chatterbox a chatterbox

I’m so amazed at how he is picking up words – to think I was nervous of his speech being delayed
Yesterday he pointed out a dinosaur in a children’s book, he said “tinosaw” actually, but I was still pretty impressed as his only experience with prehistoric animals has been the Barney parties he has attended, and here he points out a lifelike dinosaur without hesitation.
He tells everyone who will listen that he is getting a cousin. He also says the cousin’s name will be “bumbum” and cracks up laughing at his own joke (nevermind that, hehe)
He knows colours, well he knows ”boo, geen, puplel, yeyo and yed” – sometimes they are interchangeable but hey it’s a step in the right direction
He can count 1 2 3 9 10 that still counts as counting right?
He LOVES taking pictures and will turn anything into a camera “say cheeeesh”
He is odd in the way that his pronunciation of bigger words like “cousin, scissors, bandage, camera”  is perfect but he struggles with “cut, open, eat”

He is quite big for his boots this kid:
I tell him “come let’s eat” he replies “come let’s don’t”’
I try to give him meat (he is still a vegetarian) and he tells me, “no mama, go away, just go away”
He threatens me with my mom’s house, like if I tell him to do something he tells me “I go ma house”
But all the sass aside, we have finally found something that works (for now….KNOCK ON WOOD, SALT OVER SHOULDER,NO JINX) Naughty chair
If he misbehaves I let us both take time outs I put him on a couch in the lounge and tell him that he has to sit there till he is ready to apologise or clean up or stop being a Tasmanian devil of naughtiness
He sits there and cries, sometimes throws my pillows down, sometimes lays down exasperated like a character in a Jane Austen book — but every time he will get up apologise, give me a hug and ask for a bottle or a book or a tv program and be good…and now I can actually just ask if he wants the naughty chair and he wags his finger and says “No mama, don’t just don’t” to which I reply “then you don’t” cause I’m mature like that…

He will be two in April where has time gone?!?!?!
