Winning student designer, Cleo, talks fashion

On Mother’s day the Fairview Racecourse in Port Elizabeth was host to a fashion extravaganza, when 16 NMMU students were asked to present garments to the theme “Art at the Races”.

Cleo Allison, 19,came out tops with a design inspired by a wrecked sculpture after a tornado, modelled by her sister Amber.

The winning design featured in The Herald LaFemme caught my attention  but on closer inspection I realised I knew both the designer and model. In fact I used to be their Sunday School teacher *Insert feeling ancient here* I had no idea how good Cleo was and decided I should interview her for my blog.

I think I’m being outwitted by a 13month old…

Aidan with his limited vocab is already shaping up to be a precocious little thing who catches me out like:
– When I pointed at a picture of a car in a book and asked him what it was and he said…page (proof on instagram)
– Or when I catch him at the plug socket after warning him countless times and he turns to the plug socket, hits it and says DON’T (sure…. the socket played with you, not the other way around) – his don’t sounds like doughn
– When I catch him with something he is not supposed to have and he hands it to me “taa mama”  like it was his plan all along
– Or the awkwardest out of the lot, when you take off his nappy and he makes fake pee sounds psssssssssssss then laughs
– He hits me and says “don’t hitting” I don’t know what this is about, think he thinks it’s a game because I tell him “we don’t hit” – sounds like doughn hittin
– He doesn’t eat very well-super fussy-but does love to feed me and then says “mmmmmm nom nom” (what he calls food) while indicating I must eat it, uhm no u eat it little man!!!
– He tells me to “come” if he wants to feed and has told me “don’t” or “no” if he doesn’t like the song I’m singing to him – He however sings along to any and everything
– and Monday night he proceeds to take off one sock and is struggling with it while saying “put on” (he makes it sound like one word puttin) I try to help him put it on  and he cries blue murder turns out you need to “puttin” the same foot as the other sock his right foot needs to be freeeeeee
WISH ME LUCK, hehehe

Reasons I don’t mind Mondays

 – Mondays are like a start over day…I always start new things on a Monday – like today when I finally started a facial cleansing routine, yes I’m 29 and should have done it ages ago, better late than never I say.
 – Mondays are when I restart my diets I say restart because Thursday is usually when I give up and tell myself that if I’m going to be fat I should enjoy the journey…insert yummy carby food here
 – Mondays are comedy night. Well every night is comedy night on comedy central, Monday is just my favourite.
 – Mondays my curls tend to be on their best behaviour (not today though) my hair thinks it’s Thursday and I’m an extra on The Colour Purple-but usually, because I “do” my hair the weekend, Monday’s my hair is usually still cute.
 – Mondays are a chance to catch up with friends about what happened the weekend…although the stories have changed over the years, from…. “dude went to the coolest new club ended up finishing a box of wine coolers while watching the sun come up” to “dude I went to the quaintest new restaurant, ended up finishing a entire box of chocolate while watching Friends reruns”
 – Mondays I tend to have yummy lunch courtesy of Sunday lunch left overs-not today though, didn’t eat at home so I have bread to toast and am currently eyeing a suspicious mixture on my desk….I get to work stupid early and I made coffee but we were out of sugar… I remembered I had cinnamon sugar and then I thought why not…..uhmmm ja don’t!

HAPPY MONDAY ALL! *Even though we would all secretly like to be in bed right about now*
