Happy Halloween

So we don’t really celebrate Halloween in South Africa, ja there are parties here and there and somewhere I assume people are trick-or-treating, but it’s really not that big a thing (well I don’t think it is) , but since I’m all for dressing up and ignoring pagan rituals associated with the holiday, I wish everyone who celebrates…
A HAPPY HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

These pics are closest to Halloween pics I could find….technically photo booth pics from Craig and Jemaine’s wedding , but hey a costume is a costume :p

Trading Woe for Whoa!

Okay so try to stay with me here because I might not be making 100% sense but here goes, so my friend Sal over at this blog had a status up yesterday “Talking about our problems is our greatest addiction . Break the habit. Talk about your joys”
It got me thinking…I actually believe talking about our problems is very healing because sometimes you just need to vent and also you don’t know who is either going through a similar thing or could even help you in your situation. But Sal is VERY RIGHT we just don’t speak about our joys enough, we just don’t ,we can be such negative Nancys (no offence to anyone named Nancy, hehe).
This in turn got me thinking about how “woe is me” I’ve been lately, my weight has just been such a source of unhappiness and at my job I have had to deal with a lot of confrontation (part of my job, yes – part of my personality, no), then there is our finances and pending dental work which is likely to break both bank and spirit (really hoping braces are not my only option) – I’ve just been really down on myself and I am determined to stop that nonsense.
– I need to remember: If God is for me who can be against me, I am extremely blessed and it is time I start living like that again.
So what if the weight loss thing is taking longer than I’d hoped, I’m still losing and every little bit helps (another 1.5kg at yesterdays weigh in,  go me)
So what if I can’t afford all the things I’d like, I’m still blessed to have more than many and with careful planning I can even share
So what if I haven’t slept in ages, I do it for  a wonderful little boy who is teething and for him I’d give up all the sleep in the world (and I think I have, hehe)
So what if work has been stressful, this is what I do , not what I am J
-My friend, Robyn’s, 14-month-old son Blake has a tendency to say Whoa for things A LOT! Not “woe is me” WHOA! As in WOW DID YOU SEE THAT! He does it when something happens in his favorite cartoon, when he sees animals, when anything excites him , whoa to anything really, and I think that’s a good philosophy, it wouldn’t hurt to see the special things in every day and to grab opportunities to make you happy….
Like yesterday when I needed to do something in Kirkwood, and Robin decided that it would be a waste to just go back home, “why not go on a game drive at Addo Elephant National Park” (which Rob recons should be renamed Addo Buck park because that is all you really see) and for once I didn’t shoot him down and explain.. 1. We don’t have money for such frivolities  2. We are spending a weekend on a game farm at the end of November so technically this is redundant 3. In this heat I’d rather sit under my favourite tree at home.
Instead I said sure lets go and we ended up having a blast even though Aidan could literally not care less about where we were.
We got to spend time together as a family and although my heart broke when I realised I didn’t have my camera with me, I just took in the wonder of God’s creation and thought about how lucky we are to live in a part of the world where you can go on a game drive on a whim
GOD IS GOOD! HAVE A BLESSED MID WEEK! And remember to see the WHOA! In your day

picture my weekend :)

I did not get up to much this weekend, it was stormy  and I have a very grumpy teething baby. One of my closest friends got married though and come rain or shine I was not going to miss that.
The beautiful couple, Jemaine and Craig focused on fun for their wedding with impromptu dance moves and a quirky “music video” staring the two of them…Anyone who knows these two would agree it was soo “THEM”
Best of luck for the future guys, hope happiness follows you around like a shadow-even in darkest days where you might not see it, it’s still there (I’m so poetic on a Monday morning, hehe)

(clockwise from pic of me)
1. Aidan came to visit me at work on Friday and was very taken by the place, I’m not surprised as the office has all of his favourite things; computers for pressing buttons, newspapers for shredding and chewing on and people who think he is just too adorable
2. Shame even though he is teething he is such a happy kid, nags and “complains” about pain then just carries on playing. He seems to think his crib is a playpen because once you put him down he is awake and ready to play.
3. I couldn’t resist taking this picture of Sunday morning lay in, they sleep the same, soooo cute!
4. We went to the mall to get some groceries and I couldn’t resist trying out one of those coin operated cars in front of the shops, Aidan loved it, kept trying to put his feet on dashboard though (sidebar: we were then flooded in at the mall and I had to run barefoot-shoe broke-in floor sweeper dress across the parking lot with Aidan in my arms while rob tried to get our shopping and Aidan’s stroller to the car (lucky for us Aidan thought it was great fun)

Just too stunning you guys 🙂
Wish I had a better quality pic, bummer!

Happy belated birthday Kammy

Happy belated birthday to our niece Kameron 🙂 This weekend “Aidan” could finally take her gift (she had chicken pox so we couldn’t visit) and YEAH! She loved it, we got her a sparkle T-shirt and a tutu and she looked ADORABLE!!!
Happy  5th birthday again Kammy! Thanx for being such a good cousin to Aidan, always willing to play “baby games” and always watching out for him 🙂

Virginity soap and other interesting things. . .

So my friend Robyn and I decided to take a walk through town yesterday and low and behold, we discover that we (people in general not the two of us per say) could be solving most of our problems in the bath/shower. At one of these discount shops we found a section of “specialty soaps” that I just HAD to share:

So here I have been gyming and eating well and all I really needed to do was wash with this for  a week, silly me

And here I’ve been complaining about my butt that’s lost it’s shape after baby, no more stepper for me, hehehehe

Also, it turns out you can “revirginise yourself” uhm interesting and it lightens your skin at the same time nogal-uhm riiiiigggghhhhht

This one is pretty self explanatory, its for “menfolk” (not my word, that’s what package says) struggling with problems in the bedroom, claims to work in three minutes
Okays so this isn’t soap but still thought it was interesting: Why on earth would you buy rattles for a child over the age of 3? Really? My nieces would tell me , those are baby toys.
Also all those years I longed to be taller, I could have just got these, you pop it in your shoes and presto, a extra 5cm….who woulda thunk it…

So I didn’t buy any of those, I’m pretty weary of anything costing sooo little  promising sooo much…skinny soap wouldn’t suck though, lol-but can I have it in a shower gel format, that’s more my style

Have a great Friday all, hope this made you smile

Tattoo Undo – Interview with Justin Main

Lets start by saying I love my tattoo, it’s a reminder of Logan and it’s something I can carry with me forever, but not everyone is that lucky some people look at their tattoos and think, “Eish, where’s the undo button on this thing”. That’s where my buddy Justin comes in (I’ve interviewed him before about his graphic design work see here), he is an amazing tattoo artist  who sometimes, like on the TLC program “America’s Worst Tattoos” fixes up tattoos people are not too happy with.

Here is some of his work: (Q&A below pics)
