Winning student designer, Cleo, talks fashion
On Mother’s day the Fairview Racecourse in Port Elizabeth was host to a fashion extravaganza, when 16 NMMU students were asked to present garments to the theme “Art at the Races”.
Cleo Allison, 19,came out tops with a design inspired by a wrecked sculpture after a tornado, modelled by her sister Amber.
The winning design featured in The Herald LaFemme caught my attention but on closer inspection I realised I knew both the designer and model. In fact I used to be their Sunday School teacher *Insert feeling ancient here* I had no idea how good Cleo was and decided I should interview her for my blog.
All about Miss Mandy
Miss Mandy is the brainchild of Ruth Mandy Botes. A trained IT specialist, working away from home in Johannesburg was taking it’s toll on her.
“I grew more and more home-sick with every passing day. One day I woke up and decided to put on my big girl panties… I resigned, packed my belongings and a month later I WAS HOME 🙂 without any promise for employment! Stupid and Irresponsible, some would say.But here I was, in Jeffreys Bay, the place of dreams, as it is also known.”
Nail DIY from Miss Mandy!

Tattoo Undo – Interview with Justin Main
Lets start by saying I love my tattoo, it’s a reminder of Logan and it’s something I can carry with me forever, but not everyone is that lucky some people look at their tattoos and think, “Eish, where’s the undo button on this thing”. That’s where my buddy Justin comes in (I’ve interviewed him before about his graphic design work see here), he is an amazing tattoo artist who sometimes, like on the TLC program “America’s Worst Tattoos” fixes up tattoos people are not too happy with.
Here is some of his work: (Q&A below pics)
Welcome to the blogosphere, Super Sal
Those of you who visit my blog on a Friday, know all about my friend the reluctantly recovering shoe addict ,Salama, and her love of things fabulous [ that’s why we are such good friends, me being fabulous and all – WHAT? I didn’t say she had a love of all things humble 🙂 ] anyways she has started her own blog and I like to think my gentle prodding (go on do it, doooo it, just doooooo it, why don’t you do it, you know! you should doooooooo it, so you do it? because you should do it…) has helped her see the light and join the blogosphere 🙂
She entitled her blog THE SILLY LITTLE BLOG (click on the name here and you’ll see for yourself) but it’s anything but silly. Sal talks about the things she cares about, friends, family, food and fashion (the alliteration was not intentional) So pop around
And places to check out.
Loving the blog Sal! You guys should check it out, but don’t desert me, like check us both out (nothing worse than introducing a friend to a friend and they like each other so much you are the third wheel, so don’t turn my blog into a third wheel, but DO check out Sal’s uber cool blog)
