The other day I got it into my head to hand paint sneakers, so I grabbed a bunch of fabric paint (I have a decent collection but you can buy a full set of little ones for around R150-and make quite a few projects) a pair of oldish sneakers and tried my hand at making watermelon sneakers – as one does.
I have been using DIY hair gel for the last two weeks and I am OBSESSED
I had seen a bunch of curly girls rave about DIY hair gel on social media, but quite frankly I thought they were taking this natural movement to the extreme, because who has the time and energy to make their own DIY hair gel, conditioner, masks and whatever? (go suffer buyers remorse at Clicks and Dischem like the rest of us!) I wondered, who are these people? but now, I am these people – since I found out the benefits of Flaxseed gel on your hair and also how cheap the seeds are and easy the gel is to make.
I’m putting safe in quotations because I am no expert on how safe alcohol would be in banting and diabetic diets. My own dietician was like, let’s cut out alcohol and revisit it. I figured I’d do some research (on reputable sites) so when she was ready to revisit I would be super ready to cater this visit.
So it felt like perfect timing when InterContinental hotels & resorts sent me a stunning (I might have to redo my lounge for it to fit in) cocktail set. I was eager to try it out, but with my diabetic situation and financial situation (adulting in 2017 is expensive, joh) I knew I needed to keep both the sugar and the cost down. Aidan really wants a wallet and since I figure he is going to lose it anyway (I know my kid) I decided to make one…it makes an ideal stocking filler, especially if you put a card/coins from game center in there.

I made DIY paint markers for Aidan using empty roll-on deodorant bottles. It’s all part of trying to declutter a little. You know how we are always crafting at my house? Well my husband says we are actually always making a mess – we are very different people the two of us…think of the movie Yours, Mine & Ours and you have Rob and I – So I thought I’d try to play a little neater with this project and create a minimal mess set for Aidan’s Craft Box.
To create my diy paint markers I needed to decant Aidan’s finger paint into something that wouldn’t spill and the paint wouldn’t get mixed into four little brown blobs, because the rinsing of brushes between colours thing has not caught on.
