Up up and away…

Dig within. Within is the wellspring of Good; and it is always ready to bubble up, if you just dig.
Marcus Aurelius

Today is the end of an era, I’m saying goodbye to my job as lifestyle reporter and hello to a life as “Production supervisor, freelance journo, amateur photographer and blogger” (sounds impressive doesn’t it-I’m trying to cheer myself up).
I’m feeling a little sad, it’s been almost three years and through tears and fears I have loved it, the events, the trips and even the deadlines, but hey you have to keep growing in life.
So wish me luck from here on out, I feel good things a coming!

List of things I hope the near future holds (in random, first ten things that come to me order)
— Get a new car, our old jalopy is not a fan of us of late
— Go on an international trip with Rob, I have never even been on a plane with him so really wanna
— Get my drivers licence. Im soooo embarrassed that I still don’t have it, I just keep failing it’s like this thing in my life I just cant do and it eats at me!!! I can drive pretty well I’m told, but every time i do the test I get so nervous I can hardly think (hit the examinor with my door the last time), this is like the bane of my existence (and every time some1 asks, “so when you getting your licence?”, I want to throttle them) it doesn’t help that it’s quite a pricey thing to do – Damn I’m starting to feel like Sponge Bob or Sheldon on Big Bang Theory🙁
— Get to grips with this clinical depression thing, think I’m getting there on this one.
— Have a baby, well this is not next week or anything, but I can see a baby in my future
— Fix up our place, we very much doing this at the moment and as we have decided to stay for another 3 or so years it’s important to be comfy
— Buy a house. We still saving for this one hence the staying where we are now thing
— Grow my blog. I’ve been having a blast and wanna continue
— Get a new camera and focus on my photography a bit more, join a photography club maybe
— Get into shape, but try not to obsess about my weight so much, this one is a little easier said than done

Wish me luck, I’m going to need it!

Live Love LAUGH

I love to laugh that’s just me, I think that’s something every1 who knows me knows. Sometimes it’s inappropriate like when Im eavesdropping on a conversation on the train (it gets boring sometimes ppl) and I burst out laughing at something someone has said and they look at me like, “that was not for your ears”. Sometimes I laugh alone cause I find the humour in the most arb things and not everyone gets me-my brother explained it as me being Frasier and them being Sunday morning cartoons, but mostly I laugh with friends and family.
Funny thing is, I hate my laugh, it’s a rather annoying snorting thing that happens, very ugly Betty! But my point is laughing is free (with my current bank balance, free is good) its really healthy read here for more on health aspects and it just seriously cheers you up.
I come from a family of inappropriate joke makers like my mom telling us that she sees the value in contraceptives when we act out or my dad  pushing over a display in the shop, making me think I did it and then laughing his head off.
My love of laughter means I fill my life with it as much as I can, I read witty books and watch stand-up comedy and sitcoms, I surround myself with funny people and I try to see the humour in everything.
I’m not saying I don’t take things seriously, sometimes things are just not funny, there is so much pain in the world that often tears seem like the only option.
Laughter does hold so much though it breaks barriers and makes friends so next time you feel down, smile a little, laugh a little. it pays to take yourself a little less seriously.

(I try to,but  hey I’m still a work in progress)

I want to sing

Pic from: mad4medusa89.deviantart.com

I’ve always loved singing, ever since I was a little girl I would belt out tunes and regardless of what people said (and you know people always have something to say) it felt like something I could do. Something that could’nt be taken away from me. I’m not as confident as a sound though, and after school I just stopped (it’s my 10year reunion next year so the stopping has come on a while) Think I was never brave enough to put myself out there and be judged, like I’d NEVER NEVER enter Idols, I’m too scared I’d be told, “actually you cant sing” and that would crush me -actually that’s why I don’t often sing in front of people.
I did the media version of the HighSchool musical singing competition a couple of years ago though (spurred on by by a friend, @claymorar) and I won. Then still on the “hey maybe I can sing” trip I did two tracks with this really cool DJ  @Said_So Then another friend of mine Tracy @forgettingneverland   and I toyed with the idea of starting a band, but that never really took off and she moved away 🙁 and I just don’t sing anymore.
Point of this was, I was singing the other day to myself, like I do when I’m stressed/happy/sad, when the husband asked why I don’t let people hear me sing anymore and I had no answer so I got to thinking maybe I should just shock myself out of my stage fright and post a clip of me singing… AHHHHHH nervous already. well look out for it and wish me luck also don’t be too harsh with the judgement – remember we’re all friends here 😉

Poem: I am a Christian

Sometimes people who claim to be Christians, push others away, judge them harshly and think they are so much better than every1 else that quite frankly they give Christianity a bad name, as some1 who “grew up in the church”  I’m willing to admit that.
I think that’s sad and not needed. and in my humble opinion believe you should just be the best you can be and practise what you preach, a friend (Bianca Harper, she is Miss PE this year and one of the nicest people you will ever ever meet-beauty and niceness, gag!) sent me this poem and I think it’s so true:

I am a Christian

‘A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.’
When I say that ‘I am a Christian’, I am not shouting that ‘I am clean living. I’m whispering ‘I was lost, but now I’m found and forgiven.’
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I don’t speak of this with pride.I’m confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not trying to be strong.I’m professing that I’m weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not bragging of success.I’m admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible,
but God believes I am worth it.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I still feel the sting of pain.I have my share of heartaches,
so I call upon His name.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not holier than thou, I’m just a simple sinner who received God’s good grace, somehow!

What’s in the bag?

What’s in your bag this morning? I’m a big hoarder and keep adding things to my bag as the week goes, so Monday’s are the “neatest” days here is what I have on this cold Monday:

This is my “work bag”, it’s Nine West and a birthday gift from Rob, love it to bits!
I LOVE notebooks and after the editor of  Elle SA, Jackie Burger, told me she loves notebooks too (interviewed her last year), I feel less odd cos I think she rocks and she sees the point in a notebook fixation ;), from top to bottom I use these for: shopping lists, budgets and trips, work stuff like appointments and numbers, blog notes, my inspirations and designs, for interviews for work.
I take the  train to work and try to always have a book with me to pass the time, I’m LOVING this it makes time fly and Marian Keyes is SOOOOO funny
This is my personal diary/date book I use it to keep myself from double booking myself and yes it was free in the Glamour mag – I still double book myself though, it’s annoying
I have iron deficiency anemia and take these iron tablets, I use the twisty thing to keep track of what to take when, I often forget and the  container mostly serves as a way to show me exactly what I forgot and when. The other pills are cold meds (hold thumbs it works)
I have lots of lips and lots of lipgloss, hehe. This is Labello hydro care – great to combat chapped lips in winter, MAC Lipglass in Spirit and Soul- cos I love the colour – was a fashion week freebee 🙂  Clarins colour quench lip balm- there is so little left, but I just cant give it up, i love it
Apparently I’m out of hand sanitiser, I have tissues and Evian Brumisateur though. (the evian is great to revive make-up, I hardly wear make-up, but when I do it’s great)

So that is what is in mine, what is in yours? yes I do realise I forgot my wallet at home, bugger! seriously elle!
