Face Friday, Make-up tips continue

Earlier this year my fabulous make-up artist friend Chantal helped me with some make-up tutorials. She was awesome, but as a mother to a very new newborn she is on hiatus from the tutorial business. But lucky for me and you, I know lots of fabulous women (birds of a feather you know, hehehe, yes I complemented myself) and my friend Ranique has agreed to do some summer tutorials.
I’m very interested in make-up and how it can transform you, but I need loads of help with technique. If you are like me look out for the next couple of Fridays where Ranique who blogs over HERE will teach us a few things.

Ranique is one of those people who needs to be doing a million things to stay sane, she presents (tv and radio) produces, creates and goodness knows what else…but I’ll let the lady tell you that herself:

No matter what they say…
Colour, Comedy and Creativity is right here to stay!

You see, in a world that’s dull and grey, this big-mouth girl will share the above with you all the way.

And this big-mouth girl?
Who is she?

I am an Award Winning Performer, working as Freelance Publicist in Nelson Mandela Bay.
My great love for the performing arts has allowed me to manage various Theatre Productions and play “right-hand” to some SA’s top Comedians.
I try to play
“Entrepreneur-Entrepreneur” every now and then and it works!
I have been self employed for as long as I can remember and also worked as Radio & TV Presenter for community Radio Stations Kingfisher FM and Bay FM as well as Bay TV.
I am a proud wife to Kevin and insanely in love Mom to baby Adam.
A make-up lover and Creativity/DIY junky

Within polishing my acting craft at Stage World Theatre School, I came across the “Stage Make-up” class and fell in love with the drama that colour, line, definition and shape creates.
I mean you can look like a person now and within minutes be transformed into a cat or a mouse or a monster…
The creativity with make-up is endless!
After doing kiddies parties for a few years, I just one day decided that  I have had enough and I am tired of paining little faces.
So I decided to move onto the bold and dazzling world of make-up for ladies for special occasions and weddings etc.

And 30 odd weddings later…the rest as they say is history!

I LOVE make-up!
I love colour on my face and I love being creative with make-up but I also try to keep it simple.
As a new Mom, I try to throw on the very basic eye-liner, mascara and lip gloss whenever I go somewhere.
But now and then one has to add some colour to pop the eye or lip or even just to make your eyes seem open or bigger…
(as in my case as a new Mom.)

So for the next few weeks I will be sharing easy make-up tips and tutorials with you!

They call me Unique Ranique!
Pleased to meet you!

Last month to join in and share hope

Guys there are only 23 days left to share hope!!!

I spoke about this before HERE and HERE

You know! I spoke about how Tony Ferguson Weightloss South Africa, Dis-Chem Pharmacies, The Dis-Chem Foundation and African Dynamics have joined forces in an effort to fill hungry tummies in South Africa.
They plan on distributing up to 200 000 meals to hungry primary-school children across the country and you can help by getting involved in the Share Hope Campaign and so far are doing GREAT!
Seriously, the last time I checked 135044 meals had been delivered already!

The Share Hope Campaign  has seen partners donate a balanced, nutritious breakfast to a needy child for every Tony Ferguson Shake, Soup or full sized Munch Bar purchased from a participating Dis-Chem store between September and November.
The breakfast is served in the form of a cereal packed with all the nutrients a growing child needs and only needs to be mixed with water for a filling meal…

With only a 23 days left to go, why not join in on this great initiative you even stand in line to win one of four  R2000 vouchers  just telling more people about the program…
All you have to do is go HERE and click share…and share it with your friends on facebook, it’s THAT easy what do you have to lose (except some winter weight maybe)

Practically instant brag wall – diy

Aidan has started drawing pictures at home and at school and is very proud of his “trees”, “cars” and stamping.
I thought it would be a cute idea to create a space in his room to show off some of his masterpieces (seeing as we have a tiny fridge overrun by my magnet collection)

Yes, that’s Aidan’s head in his play house and no the room is not usually this cluttered looking, cleaning lady has a tendency to stack things that have no business being stacked so everything in the right hand corner isn’t usually there, neither is my hair iron, hehe

Wall is really just pretty pegs stuck with prestik, it looks cool and can be removed whenever I feel like it 🙂

The super simple how to…

WHAT YOU NEED:

Pegs, I got a whole bunch of bamboo ones on sale, they are smaller than usual size and great for crafting
Washi tape (oh how I love this stuff)
Prestik

1. Get supplies
2. cover one side of peg with washi tape
3. put prestik on other side
4. stick on wall
5. get to bragging with your kids art 🙂
Aidan’s work with stamping markers – he had a blast! would still be stamping if I let him.

As stubborn as a mule or should I say an Aidan

My blog post just disappeared and I don’t know why 🙁 here is what I managed to save….damn you interwebs damn you

Over the last few weeks Aidan has become increasingly stubborn. A kind of stubborn that has me praying that it is “just a phase”

Rob says Aidan gets his stubborn nature from me…which is funny as I don’t full out ignore people when they talk to me and I don’t refuse to do things that were not my idea. I certainly don’t refuse to sleep and walk around a dark house like a tokoloshe (African mythical creature similar to a goblin) and I don’t make my mom’s trips take forever by sitting down and refusing to walk or be picked up… exclaiming NO!

This kid loves the word no, no this and no that! you cant get any answer from him, just loud very serious NO! or a shoulder shrug, lots of shoulder shrugs, it’s like a 16-year-old in a 1-year-old body

REPEAT AFTER ME:
This too shall pass, don’t run away from the baby, this too shall pass

Welcome baby Karis and other weekend things

So this weekend was pretty interesting…

– My good friend Luchae and her husband Christopher welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world…here’s sending them and Karis all the love and luck in the world.

– We did a little Halloween get together on Friday which was really just friends having supper and using the day as an excuse to dress our kids up all cute and stuff 🙂 Aidan was Tigger

– Saturday we celebrated Skylar’s birthday with a Henry Hugglemonster get together…Aidan had a blast and as always he can get comfortable ANYWHERE!

– Rob and I did a overdue “sushi and a show” date. Fusion sushi and Steward Taylor’s new show made for a great night! We are so doing this more often!

– Sunday the weather was iffy so we opted for a indoor picnic to entertain Aidan…He wasn’t all that entertained as you can see here

Oh and at some point this weekend Aidan had his first taste of Slush Puppy (I know it’s not healthiest snack, but yum) he loved it and would only give my drink back when his hands got too cowd (cold)

Hope everyone else had a blast this weekend 🙂

Laughing my butt off…I WISH!

Like 99% of women out there I’m not all that happy with my size. I’ve been trying to eat better and exercise, but my health hasn’t been up to it (Anemia and blood pressure issues) I’ve been sooo exhausted it’s just not funny. Believe me if tying your shoe leaves you feeling like you ran a 5k then you clearly have no use for exercise… I have pretty bad iron deficiency anemia, last tests revealed that my iron stores (I know that’s not the medical name, I don’t know medical name) were completely depleted, which meant no oxygen in my blood and me passing out way more than I’d like to admit. Well, I’ve been on meds for a while now and things are looking up, which means I can finally get off my behind and do some exercises. I’m still taking it easy (still get exhausted super easily) but any exercise is better than no exercise and I have high hopes of wearing shorts in December so wish me luck…. Here are some funnies to get me motivated.
