Our first trip as a family :)

We went on our first official family holiday this weekend and had A BLAST! I love game farms but have only ever gone to stay for work, so really wanted to share the experience with Rob & Aidy (yes Aidan didn’t care one way or the other) We opted for Kragga Kamma Nature Reserve because they promised luxury accommodation and animals right around our lodge ,it’s close and the reviews were great, also as game farms go it’s really not pricey AT ALL . Must say WE LOVED IT!!! The first eve already I noticed a rustling in the bushes outside our place and guess what, there was a herd (I think herd is right word-small family really) of Nyala just outside our lounge and we woke up to different foot prints in our front yard and giraffe watching us from a short distance away (Probably amused  by the wild haired woman rushing about to find the camera she swears she just had in her hand) It was so amazing. Aidan even stared in wide-eyed wonder and tried to call both zebra and giraffe to him like they were domestic pets and went silent with shock when these giant birds (ostriches) came to check out our braai (thank goodness we weren’t making ostrich steak, awkward much, hehehe  …We could do game drives whenever we felt like (except for after 6 because then the animals run the show-even more so than usual) walking away from your cabin/lodge and so forth is frowned on, GAME DRIVES people not GAME WALKS…they have a quaint yet sturdy bridge which connects the different accommodations and leads to the bush café it also leads to a cosy entertainment area where log cabins surround a fire pit, perfect for singing Kumbaya around a bonfire while making smores (if you are into that sorta thing)  We had so much fun!!!
Will def go back when Aidan is bigger and appreciates it more also take friends with… The picture opportunities are amazing! See my pics attached (very chuffed with my nature shots)

A Crafty Christmas

So finally after always saying I must/shall/will/should … I’m going ahead and giving home made Christmas gifts this year, and I’m crazy excited about the prospect!!! And nervous! with my craft cupboard overflowing  I think I might have bitten off more than I can chew…. That being said I’m only going to put those tutorials up after Christmas, because I still want the gifts to be a surprise , you see….I did do a few crafts as birthday gifts recently so I will post that instead, pretty simple to do so if any of you want to you can give it a bash…
I LOVE homemade gifts because it’s a double whammy: I get the gift of creating and you get the gift of , well, a gift J
“I wish you a crafty Christmas,
I wish you a crafty Christmas,
I wish you a crafty Christmas,
 And a handmade new year”

Weekend piccies :)

It was our yearly family Christmas party this year, think it’s like the 16th one. It’s just a way for the family to exchange gifts and to usher in the holiday season. Always great fun!!!

Weight loss update. . .

Here is a bit of a update on the weight loss front, it’s not going too well *sad face* but I feel better in my clothes and like my diet coach says, slow progress is still progress.
Turns out there is a reason for my lethargic metabolism…They found fatty deposits in my liver which is slowing down liver function and making it more difficult to lose weight.
I have lots of water retention, even in my face *really! My face of all things* bloating, pain and fatigue so many a blood test and a scan later, it looks like I have fatty liver disease. The doctor recons the damage could come from childhood jaundice – seeing as my cholesterol is quite low and I’m classed as over weight *sobs into a tissue* not obese and it’s not like I drink much. I’m on meds and will be monitored and am eager for a clean bill of health 🙂 But anyways, fast weight loss isn’t suggested with fatty liver as it can make things worse , but weight loss and a healthy lifestyle is recommended…so this slow and steady pace is actually a good thing you see……
So what if I it will take me longer to reach my goal, I’m up for the challenge. (I say this after just last week I got my diagnosis and had a bit of a binge thinking , well I’m not losing anyway *feeling sorry for myself*) But that feeling sorry for yourself thing is sooo last year, besides I have so many inspirational people in my life it would be an insult to them if I wasn’t positive.
Also I had wanted to be back in shorts by December and that is very doable (I never said what size shorts, mind you, hehehe)

HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL! wish me luck

No more pictures mommy!

A friend reminded me how I used to joke that once Aidan is born he would be the most photographed baby ever, uhm looks like that premonition is coming true. . . oops

(don’t worry I intend to respect his privacy when he is a little older, hehe)

Monday morning confessions. . .

The truth about me…so turns out I’m greedy , not referring to my  need to spontaneously consume anything chocolate within a 5metre radius, no this is  more a  “lifestyle greed” Firstly don’t get me wrong my husband, son, friends and family make me ridiculously (I could probably sell this life for a pretty penny on auction) happy. But sometimes when I’m going through the “society pages” I miss being part of THAT, I miss the guest lists,  the trips for work and VIP treatment. Sometimes I want to trade running after a baby for running in heels. I want to interview people with exciting lives and be on the front line to see the latest fashions and try out the latest treatment or gadget.
Then I look at Aidan with his need to dance to anything rhythmic (this includes construction next door) and I want to just cuddle with him for hours and blow bubbles under our tree and go on long drives with him and Rob. I want to craft/create in the lounge while  I listen to my boys fight over dominance over the remote control or Rob complain that Aidan has switched off his laptop AGAIN!
I love that I have that and that I can do that, but then there is a part of me that wants to dress up, hobnob and mingle . . .
Just so there is no misunderstanding, I love my job, I like the design and organizational aspect of it. I like seeing a project through to the end and I like being challenged like this, also,  I knew what I was getting myself into when I gave up my previous position…
I wanted stability and a family and I have that now.
I guess sometimes I just want it  all, I love what I have now and the state of things but . . . I’m only human and a goody bag every now and again wouldn’t hurt, hehehe.
