Happy Birthday TAYLOR JORDAN

Happy Birthday Taylor
Our little princess is four today (OMW how time flies!!!!)

Every year as part of her birthday celebrations (well for the past two years…and next year in planning) Taylor chooses a birthday cake and we try to recreate it, last year it was a Barbie princess and this year a castle…
She doesn’t want a shop bought one and takes great pride in telling everyone her mommy made it…. And we have a blast making the cake, and although we are faaaaaaar from professional we are thinking of making it a birthday traditions amongst the cousins, for the fun of it … my sister wants us to make sneakers for her birthday I told her she can have the box the shoes came in instead 😉

Cupcakes to take to school, see my artistic work with sprinkles over there

My cousins Nicole (left) and Ronethea.
Ronethea is Taylor’s mom and the one who takes credit for the cake
regardless of whether the cakes work out or not 😉 oooooh the pressure
My sister and I ,
I’m amazed at how big pregnancy can make you look
 (eating icing probably doesn’t help)
Our Masterpiece that looks nothing like the one in the book, but is cute none the less!

Friday Favs

For my second Favorite Friday post I decided to use same basic format as last week, a beauty product, food and something useful around the house.
My pictures are rather shoddy and I hang my head in shame, but I lost the pictures I took before and had to compromise with phone pictures taken early this morning…. THIS WEEK I LOVE

Kangol Xtras ShimmyShimmy Nail polish remover wipes

I have tried the nail polish remover wipe thing before and EVERY TIME it was a big mess and I have had to use half the pack just to remove one hand and even then your fingers get all stained in the process, that is if the wipes don’t dry up first. But I have to say THESE WIPES ROCK! There are a bunch of wipes (I’m guessing 50 – I didn’t count) in this air tight container (which keeps wipes moist) and all you need is one wipe per hand, which sounds like a gimmick BUT IT WORKS! No more fussing with nail polish remover bottles and cotton wool, all you do is take one wipe and dab it on each of the fingers of one hand, give it a second and start wiping. Before you know it your nail polish is removed…I use a third one for good measure but it’s really not necessary (unless you are like me and sometimes go overboard with the amount of coats of polish you use) I love this stuff and keep it in my handbag for emergencies…it doesn’t smell strongly either so if you have to discreetly fix yourself up you can 😀 (R39 at Truworths)

Nestle Aero Caramel

I’m obsessed with the chocolate caramel pairing these days and would like to call it pregnancy cravings, but then I would be lying. I’m always obsessed with something chocolaty… I found this when I was looking for Caramello bears and the Aero Caramel bar was the closest thing I could find and I have been hooked ever since, the aerated chocolate paired with creamy caramel is a definite winner and I can’t get enough of the stuff which probably isn’t a good thing (205kcal per serving) This is seriously my favorite snack right now! (R8 at about everywhere)

Air Scents reed diffuser

Reed diffusers are nothing new but this brand has me hooked. It doesn’t only look great (like it forms part of your decor) it lasts super long!!!!! We got ours about 4-5 months ago I KID YOU NOT and as you can see by the picture if only needs to be replaced now. Rob has chronic bronchitis so I try to keep the house free of anything that could send him into a coughing fit, we also both suffer from frequent bouts of sinusitis which means aerosol air refreshers are a big no no! And this seems to be the answer. We got a Sandalwood scent for the bathroom and Vanilla for the lounge LOVED both (R40 PnP)

What are some of your favorite things?

Golden Globes 2013…in my humble opinion

It’s that time of the year again where award shows are the name of the game and “who wore what” is trending just about everywhere… I thought I’d get in on the Golden Globe Action with a list of my favorite and not so favorite looks…here goes:

MY FAVORITE LOOKS!
Anne Hathaway (Chanel)
Love the hair! Very chic sexy spy

Naomi Watts (Zaz Posen)
The back detail on this dress is KILLER

Jessica Alba (Oscar de la Renta)
Usually I’d find the bottom of this dress a bit busy but on Jessica it works

Michelle Dockery (Alexandre Vauthier)
Something so Greek Goddess about this dress you just have to love it

Jennifer Lopez (Zuhair Murad)
How does this woman always looks so well groomed, Crazy Beautiful

MY NOT FAVORITE LIST

DRESS:

I’m not a fan of Sienna Miller’s dress.. seriously too 70s curtain for my liking
– Even her stunning looks couldn’t make it OK

MAKE-UP:

Just can’t get behind the matching your eye make-up with your dress thing…
sorry Nicole Richie this is a lil Austin Powers girl meets Golden Girls

Dress was super cute though

  HAIR

I know Kelly Osbourne’s hair trend is supposed to be hip and happening
but to me it just looks like a home dye job gone wrong

DECOLLETAGE

Jessica Chastain’s top looks like a outfit malfunction waiting to happen,
seriously waiting for a nipple slip

SHOES

NOT A FAN!!! I do not like these shoes! Sorry Katharine McPhee
But I find this shoe awkward!

Weekend pictures . . .

So this weekend i didn’t do to much, but here are some pics anyway . . .

This year I decided to add a personal touch to every birthday gift I give out…my sister wanted money for her 19th (shes saving for a tattoo) but I wanted to add a lil something extra so i made a photo thingy for her room-yes photo thingy is a technical term:

The HOW TO pictures should be pretty self explanatory, and basically… I glued a photo strip of the two of us to blue card, added buttons to base and one as a “pin”. I then put the words sister love in gold and TADAH! a personal touch to her birthday present…already have thinking cap on for rest of the year’s gifts…

How cute, my hubby and daddy fixing up the crib for my baby 🙂

We went fabric shopping for baby room and this is what we came up with 🙂
We going for a nautical feel mostly because it was the only thing Rob and I could agree on. Thank goodness my mom sews because she will be able to make the duvet for bed (there is a extra bed in room) and cover feeding chair and even make curtains SCORE!

On a sad note, some family members lost everything in a fire this weekend 🙁
They survived with only the clothes on their backs…
PLEASE keep them in your prayers

Tears for week 26

So today marks the end of week 26 for Aidan which in Logan’s life marked his birth and shortly after, his death…I was 26 when all that happened. 26 divided by  two is 13 that’s the date of my birthday shortly after Logan died, just a few days after his funeral, I had my life celebrated while his death haunted.
Today is my sister’s birthday, it’s a Friday-start of the weekend, and two wonderful women I know gave birth this week, but today while many of the people I know smile, I fight back tears and shout at my inner being to be strong! Be strong damit!
I get kicked every few minutes in an effort from Aidan to remind me that he is still here, things are not the same…I’m not in pain, I’m not being rushed to the emergency room watching doctors check my vital signs  while trying to keep me calm meanwhile hiding their own shock and sadness. Nurses are not putting on a “brave face” for my benefit and these playful kicks are not our last.
I’m a logical person, I realize that my day is set to be spent at my desk slogging away at the daily grind, but I feel the message hasn’t gotten through to my heart…an insignificant little tiff with family has set my heart aflutter, something that would have been met with a stern disposition and a sly smile when I’m proved right (which I am) has been met with nothing but heart wrenching sobs, I recon I could cry for days if I started…or should I say restarted right now…sob like I did the night alone in my hospital room while longing for human interaction and overhearing  nursing staff whisper that I needed to be alone… Today I want to be left alone (no chance of that) I want to beat my chest and say it’s not fair, the loss is not fair, the pain is not fair, the fear is not fair, the flash backs are not fair, but then again when was life ever fair. . .

I know this post sounds like the cry of a desperate woman who should be on suicide watch, but it’s not, sometimes I’m just filled with so much emotion I need to purge through a keyboard I need to shout out at the world I AM NOT OK, in order to be OK… and as long as Aidan is healthy I’m OK

Every story has a happy ending if it’s not happy its not the ending
