A GIANT THANK YOU

Today is just a big thank you.
Thank you to friends, family, readers, aquaintances who have all been such an intricate part of our lives for the past ten months.
Thanks for putting up with my down days where all I wanted to do was mope and thanks for being ready at a moments notice for my up days when I just HAD to do something…
Losing Logan has changed me, in a way it has broken my spirit and taught me about loss and heartache in the most profound way. BUT it has also opened my eyes to the blessings around me, to the amazing people I am so blessed to share my life with…
Not a single milestone has passed unnoticed, messages, cards, gifts ,hugs and words of encouragement are part of my daily life and Rob’s too. It’s amazing how while we were (and sometimes still are) at our weakest we have such amazing people picking us up.
Love and help has come from as close as family and as far as web pals from abroad…Regardless of the situation I have been able to find someone to reach out to and am eternally greatful.
Thanx so much for everything guys I just hope I can be as good a friend to all of you as you have been to me J

Baby room DIY!

I’ve finished the baby name project for Aidan’s room, YEAH!!!! It was not as easy as I imagined, not an one afternoon in front of the television type job…but pretty easy to do once you wrap your mind around the curves of the letters, capital letters are easier it seems…

1. To do this you will need cardboard, yarn in your choice of colors, scissors, glue stick, double sided tape and templates of the letters you need
2. Use the template to cut out letters needed
3. Now using double sided tape to adhere the yarn to the page (you can use glue, if you like) wrap yarn around the cardboard letter
4. For edges I cut small pieces of yarn and stuck it over before twisting more over – for a more “finished” look
5. Continue for each letter
6. And soon you will have a very cool feature for your room J

If my explanation could do with more explanations, let me know and I’ll update . . .

It’s ten months since we said goodbye

Letter to Logan

So it’s ten months already…. your head stone is up with your little hand and foot embossed on it, I’ve placed all your memorabilia in a little box with a big blue bow and we have scans, birth certificate and so on framed…your garden is being kept neat … but that’s it, sadly there is nothing else we can do for you. As time moves on things change, like the fact that you will be a big brother soon and at the end of this week we reach the point with him where we lost you and we are so scared, we do not want to go through this heartache again, not with your loss still so new and gnawing…
Ten months on we speak about you less…we don’t visit your grave as much but we still love you as much as ever little man, we still shed tears thinking back and still think of you as our first child, our little angel…your story has touched so many and I am so proud to be your mommy

LOVE YOU ALWAYS

First Friday Favourites. . .

So I have decided that every second Friday I would do my (Friday Faves) basically three things that make my life so much easier… starting this week  🙂

This week’s faves:

1.       Garnier BB cream

–          Where have you been all my life? In Asia I’m guessing as I believe that  is where the blemish balm (BB) concept originates. I don’t wear make-up usually but with pregnancy I have needed something to make me look less drab and blotchy and I must say, LOVE IT!!! It’s supposedly a miracle cream with SPF and healing properties, but to me it’s really just a super tinted moisturizer that is not unnecessarily thick like many tend to be and actually leaves your skin feeling soft and not heavily made up at all! And you look just a little more laminated. Love this stuff
CON: It comes in three shades, light, medium and dark and not everyone is one of those
*got it at clicks for less than R100 I love less than a R100

2.      Cadbury Highlights Hot chocolate

–          I don’t know what voodoo magic makes something this deliciously yummy only 50 calories, but I approve, oh boy how I do approve. It’s rich and creamy and thick-YUM. Although you can have it without milk I add just a dash of skim, upping my calories to what? 60? SO WORTH IT! In love with it’s yumminess
CON: It’s summer now, they should come up with a cold version like nesquick, but this taste and calories

3.        Sistema Lunch Cube

–          Because it’s healthier and cheaper to take lunch to work, Rob and I have been trying it out, which means random containers and annoyances, but this lunch cube seriously cuts out that problem! On one side it has two compartments and then there’s a flatter (perfect for sandwiches) side. It seals pretty tightly but when foods are slightly over powering in flavor I do still use foil and plastic baggies…just in case. Today mine has a roti in the sandwich compartment, a delicious mince and chickpea curry (Rob made last night) in one of the little deep compartments  and a little baggie with highlights hot chocolate in the other. It makes lugging your food around much easier
CON: Could be a little bigger, would love to fit my yogurt in there too

Rainbow update

I don’t blog about new baby nearly as much as I did Logan, I guess it’s fear, like things are going so well I don’t want to jinx it…but after yesterday’s doctor appointment I feel much more at ease and able to share about our beautiful baby boy (My doctor says she wont be satisfied that it’s a boy until she sees for herself, he has been very secretive around her, but the specialist pointed his wee winky out to us and I don’t need much more proof, hehe)

He now weighs 770g and is very healthy, I’ve been taking my meds religiously and apart from baby laying on a nerve every now and again and either making me topple over in pain or making my leg randomly fall asleep, everything is very well with both of us…Dr recons he is going to be quite big (so says the measurements)  She adds that she didn’t need measurements to conclude that though as looking at his dad leads you to that conclusion anyway. I have a pretty small torso (when last was anything of mine called small, hahaha) so she thinks it’s gonna be a tight squeeze at some point, but she is not concerned and says the fact that he keeps me up most nights practicing for either the Soccer World Cup or River Dance is a great sign 😀

I officially have 8 weeks left at work *yeah me* and we are scheduled (since when do things go according to schedule) to meet our little rainbow on April 9, 2013

I’m sure I have mentioned this before but we are naming him Aidan which means little flame or born or fire…which is very apt because of the fire we have been through on our journey to parenthood and the fact that he comes from a little flame of hope we keep in our hearts….

Thank you so much to all my readers for keeping us in your prayers it means the world and with him being 26 weeks (Logan’s birth age) next week we need your prayers more than ever

The customary resolutions . . .

Every year resolutions are made and broken (usually relating to getting in shape and gyming and not eating chocolate like it’s the antidote to some poison you in hailed) this year I thought I should try and go for introspection when it comes to resolutions…attainable goals and such so here goes:

This year I want to:

1. Smile and laugh more, I love to laugh and it’s sad that I’ve lost that

2.  Be a good mom, Aidan is due in about three months and I really want to “do good by him”

3. Not sweat the little things, bad things happen, it’s inevitable, it’s all about how you deal with it

4. Not let anyone steal my happiness, especially a certain person…

5. Be less hard on myself, I’m not perfect and nobody expects me to be – except me

6. Do more crafts and bake more . . . my mom finds this funny as she doesn’t see where I will get time

7. Make friends and family feel special…sometimes a little goes such a long way

8. Take loads and loads of pictures, things change so fast, I want to document that

9. Blog more regularly, the blog has helped me heal so much this year, plus it’s just plain fun

10. STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES, step back in a moment and just think, well this right here is good 🙂

                        HAPPY NEW YEAR PEOPLES
