So it was seriously raining yesterday, which is good because we have been in a drought recently and we needed the water unfortunetly I think God did a “reply all” on our prayers for rain as it flooded yesterday. Here are some pics from my home town, Uitenhage, hecticness!
I did not take these pics, it was one of those emails that gets sent around so if you know who took them please let me know and I will be sure to credit the photographer.

I want to sing

I’ve always loved singing, ever since I was a little girl I would belt out tunes and regardless of what people said (and you know people always have something to say) it felt like something I could do. Something that could’nt be taken away from me. I’m not as confident as a sound though, and after school I just stopped (it’s my 10year reunion next year so the stopping has come on a while) Think I was never brave enough to put myself out there and be judged, like I’d NEVER NEVER enter Idols, I’m too scared I’d be told, “actually you cant sing” and that would crush me -actually that’s why I don’t often sing in front of people.
I did the media version of the HighSchool musical singing competition a couple of years ago though (spurred on by by a friend, @claymorar) and I won. Then still on the “hey maybe I can sing” trip I did two tracks with this really cool DJ @Said_So Then another friend of mine Tracy @forgettingneverland and I toyed with the idea of starting a band, but that never really took off and she moved away 🙁 and I just don’t sing anymore.
Point of this was, I was singing the other day to myself, like I do when I’m stressed/happy/sad, when the husband asked why I don’t let people hear me sing anymore and I had no answer so I got to thinking maybe I should just shock myself out of my stage fright and post a clip of me singing… AHHHHHH nervous already. well look out for it and wish me luck also don’t be too harsh with the judgement – remember we’re all friends here 😉
Poem: I am a Christian
Sometimes people who claim to be Christians, push others away, judge them harshly and think they are so much better than every1 else that quite frankly they give Christianity a bad name, as some1 who “grew up in the church” I’m willing to admit that.
I think that’s sad and not needed. and in my humble opinion believe you should just be the best you can be and practise what you preach, a friend (Bianca Harper, she is Miss PE this year and one of the nicest people you will ever ever meet-beauty and niceness, gag!) sent me this poem and I think it’s so true:
I am a Christian
‘A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.’
When I say that ‘I am a Christian’, I am not shouting that ‘I am clean living. I’m whispering ‘I was lost, but now I’m found and forgiven.’
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I don’t speak of this with pride.I’m confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not trying to be strong.I’m professing that I’m weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not bragging of success.I’m admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are far too visible,
but God believes I am worth it.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I still feel the sting of pain.I have my share of heartaches,
so I call upon His name.
When I say ‘I am a Christian’ I’m not holier than thou, I’m just a simple sinner who received God’s good grace, somehow!

Hey guys!
Someone asked me what is the funniest joke I have ever heard, well I’ve heard alotta funny things in my life but one that stands out is this I read years ago but still cracks me up till this day:
a Preacher while taking a walk on the pier is startled by a young boy yelling out, ‘Damn fish for sale, damn fish for sale!’ He decides to approach the lad about his foul language usage whereupon the boy kindly explains that he is not cursing but rather that the fish were caught in a dam, hence they are dam fish. After an apology and a good laugh the preacher supports the young lad’s business by purchasing 3 bags of fish to take home to his wife. As he got home he yelled from the door to his loving wife that he has some dam fish he would like her to prepare. His wife gasped from the kitchen and asked why he, a man of the Word, would use such profanity unbecoming of his nature and image. The preacher had to then explain to his wife that because of where the young boy caught them they are refered to as dam fish. His wife gave a big smiling sigh of relief and immediately begun preparing the fish.
Later that night at dinner, the preacher his wife, son and daughter were all seated around the table when the preacher asked his son to pass the dam fish when his son excitedly jumped up and yelled, ”That’s the spirit dad, pass the f*cking potatoes!!!”
