You can only take one thing onto a island what would it be
Does a library count as a thing? Because I quite like the idea of lazing in a hammock, reading books all day.
What is your best childhood memory
My grandparents had a huge mulberry tree in their garden. I loved climbing that tree.
What food could you eat every day
Pasta.

What is a habit you would love to kick!
Biting my cuticles.
What is one thing you hope you will be remembered for
For a life that shines Jesus.

Things I NEED, okay want…

I was thinking about how life changes, how your needs and wants change and how we are never satisfied, from what I can remember this is what I wanted over the years:

When I was a kid

1. A endless supply of teen literature (yes as a primary school kid)
2. Hair that didn’t need a whole day “wash day”
3. My little cousins to stop following me around
4. Late night TV watching privileges
5. A chemistry set

When I was a teen

1. My first kiss (literally 16 never been kissed over here)
2. To gain weight so clothes actually fit
3. To undo my bad hair cut
4. Invites to the cool parties
5. A cooler cellphone (bratty I know)

When I was a student

1. More hours in the day
2. No curfew
3. Higher paying part time job
4. To pass without going to class
5. More cute clothes

As a newbie adult

1. Shoes
2. Better bad guy radar
3. More hours in the day
4. More money
5. A hairstyle that was stress free

Now:

A NAP!

– A recurring thing seems to be the need of more time and manageable hair, what is something you always seem to want?

Quick little Easter treat boxes

So maybe, just maybe, Easter kinda sprung up on me this year…It was Aidan’s birthday, big changes career wise, a few unfortunate happenings and just not enough hours in the day…
So when it dawned on me that I had not yet created anything Eastery for Aidan and his friends I needed something quick yet cute…This is what I came up with 🙂

Everything falls apart to fall together

Aidan’s carefully planned party totally went bust yesterday.
The venue I made sure to book and pay deposit for a month in advance mixed up our booking (despite my checking in) and we ended up standing in the rain with Aidan knocking on door saying “please open the door”
Luckily (due to it being Easter weekend) the only guests were “family” so I didn’t have to feel embarrassed while standing with platters and cake outside… We rallied and ended up having a get together at the local spur…The rushing around made me forget my camera though so that sucked…
Also sucks that all the decor I bought went unused and that we had to take out extra money last minute but at the end of the day we had a good time and Aidan had a blast which is all we really wanted 🙂
And he loved the cake and t-shirts I crafted for him and his friends loved the thank you gifts I made… crafting makes me happy 🙂
Aidan got awesome well thought out gifts – love gifts that show you put thought into it…

THANK GOD FOR THE LOVE WE ARE SURROUNDED WITH 🙂

Also aidan tells me he only wants to wear superman clothes now…so welcome to the terrible 2s

Open letter on your second birthday

It’s your second birthday and you are snuggled next to me as I type… it’s storming now and as you told me last night “it’s dark and raining I sleep by you” (dark a yayn,  I dudu here)
The rain is symbolic and so is the fact that I had one of the worst days ever yesterday (locked everything in house, had things break and lost a substantial amount of money to a dishonest stranger and ended up trying to pay for your party with nothing but a smile)
It reminds me that you are my rainbow … The calm after the storm…not just because of your brother but because of who you are little man and the fact that you are wise beyond your years. you saw the things I made you for your birthday and said “wow so pretty” and didnt try to take anything.
I was feeling pretty defeated and when you saw my tear stained face after a tough day you asked for a “huggy kissy”
And said “I kissy better” because that’s what I do for you.
I pray so hard that you will always have such a good heart, that you will always be willing to say sorry and eager to say thank you. That I can still get huggies and kissies for a little while longer and that you will never lose your mischievous smile…
You suprise me every day…you speak now and though your sentences are broken, the sentiment never is…you pray every night for everyone and everything and if I forget you remind me to “tank u jesus”. You are still quite sneaky and if you really don’t want to sleep you will list everything from building blocks to chocolate in your prayer.
Sometimes you infuriate me…you don’t like to eat or sleep (unless you are faking it to get out of school) and you get a little too helpful in shops filling the trollies of random strangers, also although you will tell me to “change a bum bum please” take out the nappies, wipes and powder your own bum you tell me in no uncertain terms…”No! you pee a toilet, I pee here” (points at nappy).
You are such a daddy’s boy you will ask me to “call a daddy” “bring  daddy here” if your dad is not around… you two drive me crazy with your wrestling matches and balloon saber fights over me when I’m trying to watch TV but my life is richer for it…
You have this cute/awkward habit of doing “boom” if you have a object and someone else has same:  you need to put them together and say boom…you hurled a rugby Ball at a rugby match on TV for “boom” and shoved my face into a magazine because the woman in picture reminded you of me.
That being said you are such a blessing… everyone that meets you says there is something special about you and today I just thank you for the chance to be your mom….

Happy Birthday Aidan or like you say Ahhhden

Aidan’s first sleep over

Aidan’s six year old cousin Kamryn spent the night and the two of them had a blast… here are some of the things they got up to… (can I have a sleep over now? At a spa maybe)
– they helped make play dough
– they made play dough easter eggs and decorated them (aidan tells me mickey and Donald “duck o wait” eggs too)
– started a ‘restaurant” and had me order various play dough meals – the ice cream cones where very popular
– they painted outside (Aidan painted his feet)
– they played on his lil playground
– finally fell asleep watching mickey mouse clubhouse (Aidan’s choice – she wanted little mermaid but let the “little one” chose)
– also Aidan taking the new law that states you will get fined if you don’t have a car seat very seriously – see him try to install one on his tricycle

*Happy Easter everyone !*
