Like so totally styling it

Like I mentioned yesterday, we are staying over in PE “the city” for next three days because we have all these events to attend and are too cheap to keep riding in and are lucky enough to have friends willing to put up with us 🙂
With the help of my friend Robyn we have decided to turn it into a styling three days in honour of my “Most stylish media person nomination” (got hair did and nails done 2 – nails are Opi, you don’ know Jacques – love Opi’s names)
We started last night at The Herald Spec-Savers Miss Port Elizabeth competition (first time in ages I was just there for the show and not working) here are some pics from last night. (I could not get the pics in the right direction, I’m slightly not all here)

Mo, Sal, me and Rob

Me with Sal and Rob, I’m wearing high waisted black skirt, lumo green shirt, sheer black stockings and heels I could hardly walk in. (yes my smile in this pic makes me look slightly deranged)

Told you I couldn’t walk in those shoes and yes there is that deranged smile again

The friends that are allowing us to stay over, Ryan and Robyn. Ryan is having a Jam Jar and Robyn a Teapot at Primi

Rob and I, wow yesterday was not a good facial expression day for me

– HAVE A GOOD FRIDAY ALL!

Why does this Thursday feel so Mondayish?

So this morning I wake up late, o flip no! I hear rob struggling with his car outside (a bad sign as he is supposed to leave more than a hour before I do). I did the good wife thing, shouting out of the window, “whats wrong? need help?” even if I’m about as much help with car problems as a chainsaw is with origami. Naturally he says no (he is currently freaking out, add not being a morning person to being late with car problems and it’s a ugly combo: sorry babe its true).
I make my way to the bathroom, need to catch a train soon (realise Rob must still pack some things in the car – we staying over in “the city” for a couple of days because apart from working here we have functions every night for the next three days and driving in from “town” is an expensive schlep – I decide not to add to Rob’s stress by explaining to him “nicely” that he should have finished packing yesterday like I politely asked him to do. ahhhh MEN!)
Need to wash my hair first… Here is the thing: I have a hair stylist appointment today (also doing brows and nails, need to look good for functions I shall be attending) but I hate going to the salon looking too much in a state and I currently have enough hair products in my hair to tame the locks of about 15 gypsies. I know I’ll get my hair washed at salon, but have this thing about not showing up looking too gross(I already have issues with strangers touching me, don’t want them judging me as they do it), I recon it comes when I was younger and had hair all the way down to my lower back and the hair was sooooo much that stylists would flip a coin to see who would get the punishment that is my hair.
Anyways I wash hair in shower(it’s clean but still looks crap, prob looks crapper cos my hair does not like to be clean) get dressed and realise Rob is still fiddling with the car.
He was changing batteries (so my car is currently without a power source) and I glance at the clock wondering how I managed to get my hair washed (gunk rinsed off) and into a half decent outfit in so little time and why Rob is still here. (I’m having a fat day and changed outfits enough times to have clothes covering most of our bedroom floor, the closer to summer we getting the tighter my clothes are getting, it’s not one of my proudest moments, but winter makes me eat like it’s the day before starting fat camp. I have even heard myself say, “ooh I don’t actually like this *chew chew* def not my thing*chew chew* oh look it’s all done”) Anyway Rob gets car fixed and we bundle the unpacked stuff into the car and drive off on a hope and a prayer. I decide to just drive in with him, (no use taking the train now) and just before he drops me at work(mentally getting ready to face the music at the office) he realises he forgot the tickets for tonight’s event at home so will at some point have to go all the way back to our home to get it…
— In honour of not upsetting the hubby on what is clearly already a crap day I shall reserve my told you so’s about packing the night before even if I did “inform him thusly” he he

…. GOTTA LOVE MARRIED LIFE

HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL

Say cheese

So yesterday my niece, Kameron (2 going on 3), snuggles up to me and asks me to smile with her so she can take a picture of us, how can you refuse such a cute request?

Here is the result of our “photo session”

Tuesdays are Shoesdays-Design diva Este van der Merwe

Today’s shoe day diva is a local designer and a REALLY nice girl Este van der Merwe she featured at SAFW last year with her forbidden fable range and this year went back to introduce Hoiden a design brand she started with friend Marjorie Erasmus.
1. You are: Esté van der Merwe, designer and owner of the clothing label, Hoiden.
2. How many pairs of shoes do you own? Well, I can’t really say because I live with my two sisters and we are all the same shoe size and not really selfish (sometimes) when it comes to sharing our clothes or our shoes. But in my closet alone, there are about 20 pairs.
3. Why do you think a great pair of shoes has such an effect on women? I know why women love living through the aches and pains of high heels- that’s easy. Number 1: High heels tend to give the aesthetic illusion of longer, more slender and more toned legs. Number 2: Did you REALLY expect me to give you a better reason than that??!
4. Which shoe are you still searching for? I’m waiting (and praying) for a Jimmy Choo in my size (size 3 by-the-way
can you say mission impossible?!) to pop up on Bid or Buy. J
5. Which shoe can’t you believe you actually wore?  I always hated the fact that in high school we all had to look the same, so on Wednesdays we had the sport days and we were all allowed to wear trainers and our sports uniforms to school. I saw this as an opportunity to be different because they couldn’t exactly force everyone to wear the exact same trainers. So I bought these navy blue Nikes. They looked just like the normal Nikes except for the fact that it didn’t have laces in the front but a zip! Yes, a big bulky black zip attached to some lycra in the centre of the shoe. When I look at them now, I feel so embarrassed but back then I felt like the coolest kid on the block because of all the attention I got. Now I know why. Lol
6. Fav shoe/style quote. “If the shoe doesn’t fit, must we change the foot? “ – Gloria Steinem
“It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.” Muhammad Ali

My Black lace-up hard leather high heel Prato boots.
They are my Johnny Depp’s – So rock ‘n roll, so edgy and you can wear them with just about anything. They are the perfect accessory to make a good girl summer frilly dress a little more fearless and extreme. They’re sexy, and no one can resist these bad boys.

My black golden studded gladiator heels.
I immediately fell in love when I was passing by the shoe store in Mosselbay and saw them. I knew I couldn’t really afford them at that moment but I just desperately needed them with all my heart. You can definitely say it was a crush, and they just peacefully ignored me and pretended that I didn’t even exist -which just made them so much more desirable. In the end I couldn’t resist and I bought them the very next day.

My grey pumps with a cute lace bow.
If they were human and male, they would’ve definitely classified as the sweet, romantic type. The perfect shoes that make you feel like a real lady. They are just comfortable, you smile every time you look at them and they’re the perfect excuse to act like a princess because they make you feel like one. They just love spoiling my feet with a tad of femininity.

My brown flat heeled boots.

They’re the shoes that would never let me down. They are rugged, manly, strong, but for some reason
this rough rogue will have you relishing in your femininity like no other. Why? There is something about raw masculinity that brings out the damsel in all of us. Wearing them will do one of two things: make you squeal with delight or appreciate your ability and right to wear the pants sometimes

– My suede high heel ankle boots.
My ankle boots are my personal favourite out of the five. They’re not the best looking though, and for a night out I would never consider them when I open my closet at first. Ill always have a look at “the menu” but for some reason in the end I always pick them. They’re comfortable, they can be dressed up or down and they’re simple, sleek, elegant but still very relaxed.
So
Who needs men when you can have shoes, right?!!!!  😉

Monday catch up

Sooo these are 10 things I learnt this weekend

1. Robin still wants a dog, we house/pet sat this weekend and I was kinda hoping that spending time with four dogs and a cat (each with their own quirks) would have put a stop to his wanting of a pet, but no such luck (I like animals, I’m just not the pet having type)
2. My curly hair is seriously on it’s way back, but then I need to wet it every morning to reactivate curls and I’m actually quite lazy for these things.
3. I still want to loose weight, but much less than before because seeing photos from when I was younger/skinnier have left me thinking-damn give that girl a burger, I actually prefer some curves.
4. Being nominated for a style award makes you look at your own style and be all judgemental, because you feel like people think that you now think you’re all stylish and if you don’t pull a look off they can be all, “so much for that nomination” -What to wear, what to wear…
5. I worry to much about what other people think, I need to stop that.
6. I like my husband, lol, that seems like a given, hehe. I’ve always loved him, but this weekend I thought about it and I really like him, he gets me and should get an award just for that.
7. I sometimes get jealous of things I don’t really want a part of, like if I see people doing hip hop dancing I’m all, oooh wish I could do that (but I would not wanna put in the time for practise) and when my friends went hiking this weekend I was all bumbed I couldn’t go (even though I’m really not a fan of carrying a heavy bag and sleeping in a sleeping bag-that’s not my bag baby …lame Austin Powers joke…)
8. I realised I’m loosing my voice, not the talking one (sorry to all those who were hoping, hehe) the singing one, I didn’t know that was possible, I guess it’s use it or loose it.
9. I figured out that my niece, Kameron actually does know my name, but prefers to call me other Robin to annoy me.
10. I like being me, insecurities, quirks, extreme appetite and all
