Well known for his philanthropy, South African billionaire and serial entrepreneur Quinton van der Burgh has once again put his talent and wallet to work to help others. The release of his coffee table book, 100 Making a Difference, is set to benefit 143 charities on a global scale, while highlighting the work of fellow philanthropists around the world.
Working with celebrity photographer John Russo, van der Burgh is highlighting the work of social heroes and celebrates philanthropic individuals and organizations on a global scale. 100 Making a Difference features a collection of incredible photographs of passionate human beings who are dedicated to improving the lives of others through their tireless charitable work and the organizations they support.
These individuals include celebrities such as Christy Turlington, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Oprah, Pharrel, Usher, Elton John, Eva Longoria, Serena Williams, MariaSharapova, Tommy Hilfiger, Gwyneth Paltrow.
“Many people around the world are in dire situations and 100 Making a Difference is a book that will, hopefully, remind people of how helping humanity should be at the forefront of your daily thoughts and actions” explains van der Burgh.
Charity work is not just lip service for van der Berg who in 2018, launched the QVDB Foundation and the #PayMyBills campaign to help South Africans who are drowning in debt. This initiative focuses solely on alleviating families’ financial burdens and providing individuals with the skills they need to join the workforce.
“I’m not just wanting to change someone’s life for a day but wanting to change someone’s life forever. Life is not defined by what you can accumulate, but by what you can give back, and I have made it my life’s mission to raise awareness and help others in support of global change and impact,” adds van der Burgh
The book is available for sale on www.100makingadifference.com , with proceeds being donated to all the organizations listed within the beautifully designed hardcover book. All monies from the sale of the 100 Making a Difference book will be divided equally between the foundations in the book.
What a weird thing to announce, especially as someone who makes money through people logging on. But this weekend I logged off and I’m so much better for it.
Social media and the internet and streaming services are amazing. For many of us, it was a lifesaver/is a lifesaver, as covid cut us off from human contact.
So it’s sort of weird talking about my menstrual cup, it feels like TMI to the millionth degree, BUT when I was researching before purchase, I was dying for someone to, “tell it like it is” and I thought I’d be the change I want to see and so forth.
As a disclaimer: I always say (while testing hair products) that experiences may differ as our hair is different. I am willing to bet it is the same for the gynecological areas. Also, I’m not afraid to say vagina, but much like the boys who went from penis and testicles to calling it their lucky charms, I too, appreciate whimsy.
Aidan seems to have a knack for picking “kids’ movies” on Netflix that doesn’t make me want to poke my eye out. So I thought I’d share his current favourites if any of you are looking for something to watch with your kid without resenting them halfway through.
I have written about death a few times, from us grieving our son. My son grieving his brother to me not knowing how to deal with the deaths of friends. Death has become even more commonplace and I have more thoughts.
