5 reasons to get your butt to #ECMeetup

It is time for the annual #ECMeetup and I would be straight out lying if I said I was not excited. This little idea myself and Luchae  had over email three events ago, has exceeded our expectations since day one and it warms my heart that I get to be part of such a great initiative.

For those of you who have no idea what I am on about. The #ECMeetup is a networking event for bloggers and influencers in the Eastern Cape. It is a sister event to the Jhb, CT, and Dbn events and it is myself and Luchae’s pride and joy (apart from our kids, I only have one kids Lu has , I don’t know I lost count, hehe) We get together eat great food, often thanks to The Boma and The Plantation  and venue owners Sarah and Ralph Dirsuwei from Chasing the Rainbow  who have been gracious hosts for two (soon to be three) events now. So why should you come? Well one of our regulars, Ranique from Big Mouth Entertainment thinks it’s a must   Here are my own reasons:

Geek world joins our Christmas giveaway

I am so excited to announce that Geek World South Africa has joined in on our Christmas giveaway. They took part last year   and did not hesitate to make my Oprah meets Santa dreams come true again this year.

They are giving away this amazing Breaking Bad set which consists of a Top Trumps game  and a Funko Pop Jesse Pinkman  (they added a little something extra but we will show that off at a later stage)   The prize is worth R370 which is insane because I expressly asked for a stocking filler but these people don’t do anything in half measures

Chase Rhys…curly countdown

I haven’t done a curly countdown in ages so I thought it might be fun to include a dude for a change. Our curly guy is Cape Town Writer and performing artist Chase Rhys.

The 28-year-old from Ocean View outside Cape Town is the winner of the inaugural Adam Rosalie Small Award for Debutant writers for his play, Kinnes.

He wrote his first play, Kinnes to honour the lives of the children who are victims of violence on the Cape Flats and to ask why the most vulnerable people in our communities are not adequately protected.

I love the concept of the play and the subject matter is something that has bothered me since I was old enough to understand the impact of what  I was reading in the news. It is so awesome to see young writers achieve, but then on the other side of this, I must say THAT HAIR THO…here is his curly countdown

My Christmas competition begins…

Don’t roll your eyes at me just yet, it might seem early for a Christmas competition but hear me out…

I have teamed up with a few South African brands to bring you a really fun competition. All the brands are things I really like so I’m actually channeling Oprah and giving you “my favourite things” of sorts. Because I really like the brands and the products I want to tell you all about them individually and that takes time…time we don’t have as Christmas is like ten weeks away.

Basically I have a gift bag at home…every Tuesday and Thursday I will introduce you to a great stocking stuffer idea and then stuff a gift from that brand into the bag, so at the end of my competition run. (First week of December) I will announce a winner who will have a bag full of treats delivered to their home.  I did something similar last year, see here.
