Aidy and his “sister”

No I’m not pregnant, I also didn’t secretly have a daughter over the weekend!!! I just happen to be Godmother to a beautiful little girl named Zoey (mentioned her countless time I’m sure)
Her and Aidan had an impromptu play-date this weekend, when her and her mom came to say hey, so naturally I pulled out the camera:

Matching curly hair 🙂 They look a lot alike for people with no genetic links…

The stare down

fake smiles all around

such a poser 🙂

The pressures of being a toddler…

Happy Birthday Honey

Today is my friend’s daughters birthday… what makes this birthday different you might ask…Well:
My friend and I were pregnant at the same time actually due the exact same day this was in 2012.
But then Logan passed away and left room for so many emotions. I still remember her heavily pregnant standing under a tree at his funeral.
Today is that friend’s daughter’s birthday and at the back of my mind it will always tug at my heart strings, he should be here too, they should be playing together and things should just be different you know!
But at the same time she gives me this weird feeling of heart peace, like when I see her even if it is just a picture, I have a connection to him. I kinda know “okay this is the stage he would have been now” and that way he sorta lives on.
I know it sounds all kinds of self serving and strange, but a grieving heart is a selfish thing it looks for anyway to mend itself, to feel okay for a minute.
Her and Aidy have hit it off since their first meeting when he was still a “baby baby”. She automatically goes into big sis mode, too cute.
The little girl is stunning like her ex-model mom and a bubbly peoples-person like both her parents, she is such a joy to be around and although they are actually moving over the seas soon, I hope that she will always be part of my life…
I’m soooooooo cyber stalking them!!! “SKYPE ME SKYPE ME SKYPE ME, hehehe

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!

Congrads to my special girls

Two of my favourite little girls had special days this weekend. Kirsten turned 3 on Saturday (oh how time flies) and Taylor got an award at school…very proud aunt over here:

Taylor received an award for being joyful and compassionate, how sweet is that

Kirsty celebrated her 3rd birthday. She received a bunch of gifts but was most chuffed about her story books…
I see a little bookworm in the making
This is aidan “singing” happy birthday to kirsten he got a little excited with this one and was singing long after everyone else was done
Tried to get some work done with Aidan watching a cartoon on his dad’s laptop…it didn’t work for long, at all

Happy belated birthday Kammy

Happy belated birthday to our niece Kameron 🙂 This weekend “Aidan” could finally take her gift (she had chicken pox so we couldn’t visit) and YEAH! She loved it, we got her a sparkle T-shirt and a tutu and she looked ADORABLE!!!
Happy  5th birthday again Kammy! Thanx for being such a good cousin to Aidan, always willing to play “baby games” and always watching out for him 🙂

Happy Birthday Kirsten (stuff she says)

There are a few very special little girls in my life (more since the baby boom of 2013)
Anyway today one of these special little girls celebrates her second birthday…..YEAH!
Happy Birthday Kirsten!

Kirsten has been a very vocal one-year-old, (ridiculously sarcastic and cheeky for her age) especially the last few months, here are a few of her funniest moments: (can’t wait to see what her “twos” have in store)

– She’s quite shy so sometimes needs to be prompted to interact…
HER MOM: Say hello to Elle
  KIRSTY: Hello Elle *hug*
ME: Hey how are you today
KIRSTY: No, Kirsty only says hello…*walks away*

– Not realising the question had been asked at a thousand times that day…
MY SIS: Kirsty where is Pa (her grandfather)
   KIRSTY: In my pocket

– While watching TV on the couch
ME: You smell nice like a baby
KIRSTY: *Scrunches up face like some people do when speaking to babies while wiggling fingers like shes about to tickle me* Ooooh like a baaaaybeee, like a little baaaybeee, look at the little baaaaybeee

– After a mischievous moment
  UNCLE: Kirsten don’t be naughty
KIRSTY: I’m not naughty I’m just a baby

– She intercepts a call from her mother to me
  KIRSTY: Hello, where are you
  ME: I’m at work
  KIRSTY: NO!
ME: What do you mean? I’m really at work
  KIRSTY: NO, you don’t work!
  ME: I do
KIRSTY: Okaaaaayyy *don’t believe you tone* Miss you

– Getting sleepy in the back of the car
HER MOM: Oooh you so tired, are you going to get into bed and sleep when we get home
KIRSTY: No Kirsty sleep in your bag *laughs like she’s just SOOO funny*

– Having a “serious” talk with her mom
KIRSTY: You know, ouma has a laptop, Elle has a laptop, Nita (aunt) has a laptop, Yaya (aunt) has a laptop, EVERYBODY has a laptop, but kirsty *sigh*
  Later I overhear:
KIRSTY: I can just take Elle’s laptop ne
  She sees me:
KIRSTY: So wheres your laptop *sneaky smile*

– Shopping with her mom and I
 KIRSTY: What you doing?
 ME: Looking for a dress
KIRSTY: *looking puzzled and starts pointing at things* but this is a dress and this is a dress
ME: How about that one? *pointing at her mom*
KIRSTY: *Wants to practically grab it from her mother* NOOOO! not that one mommy! put it back, mommy put it back, it not pretty mommy no!

Out for breakfast – first time she gets handed utensils at restaurant
KIRSTY: *looks at blunt knife and fork in the serviette* shhhhh they sleeping
ME: *playing along* is the knife a girly?
KIRSTY: *in a uhm duh tone* the knife is a boy Elle, fork is a girly

– She originally wanted to order a burger but settled for a scrambled egg breaky
  WAITRESS: *puts down plate*
KIRSTY: Thank you ,where is my burger
HER MOM: You like egg, just try it
KIRSTY: *eats about half her food and pushes away plate*  thank you can I have my burger now
ME: You won’t be able to finish a burger now, drink your juice
KIRSTY: *obliges and drinks juice* mmmmm I’m drinking a burger, mmmmm I’m drinking my chippies

– Pointing out fruit in fruit basket
KIRSTY: Apple, pear, banana, orange, naartjie, and not a naartjie (lemon)

Looking forward to many more “conversations” with this little one
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRSTY, SEE YOU AT YOUR PARTY!

Kirsten and her mother, Che-lynn

Baby love. . . welcome to the world little ones

Blake and Riley

I’m finding myself in a weird state of happy meets fear at the moment, My friend, Robyn (the one who was  the maid of honour at my wedding) has had the most beautiful twins (Blake and Riley) and holding them (they are the first newborns I have held since Logan) has made me realize just how deeply losing Logan hurt, I find myself praying for them to be safe all the time and not the rational kind of prayer that everyone does, it’s way more “PLEASE GOD, NOT AGAIN” kind of prayer.

I’m freaked out by thoughts of their safety but at the same time  I am so thankful for their lives, these two angels, along with Hananiah (Danelle’s baby) , Samuel (Yolande’s baby), Jacqueline (Mechelle’s baby) and Levi (Jill’s baby)   â€“  who were all born after Logan – have in a way restored my faith in the fact that, babies can be happy and healthy and that “things can turn out great”.

I’d be lying if I said my happiness for them wasn’t tainted with a longing for my own happy ever after, that I didn’t want to cradle a healthy little baby too, but at the same time I’m so proud, I think they are just the cutest things and they have really  planted a seed of promise in the part of my heart where doubt and pain was.

The most amazing part of my love for these six babies (and those we are still waiting for JMoms you know who you are . . .) is that it comes from this amazing respect I have for their mothers who stood by me in my darkest hour, at the most critical times in their pregnancies – with tummies out to there –  they chose to be part of my support system and when they could have been at their happiest they chose to share my pain. I’m a very lucky girl J

Also my friends make the prettiest babies, hehe . . .
