Black Tuesday . . .

Today I’m wearing black, to find out why read this article in today’s The Herald…

Dark day for freedom

Dark day for freedom
Protests mount ahead of vote on secrecy bill today. Almost 14 years ago to the day, former president Nelson Mandela told journalists press freedom would never be under threat in South Africa as ” long as the ANC is the majority party”. The ANC intent on passing its feared Protection of State Information Bill through the National Assembly today.

Happy Youth Day…

This question goes out to South Africans…What does Youth day mean to you?
Officially (according to the history books: Youth Day on 16 June in South Africa commemorates the start of the Soweto riots of 1976, initially sparked by a government edict that all instruction in black schools would be held in Afrikaans. The iconic picture of Hector Pieterson, a black schoolchild shot by the police, brought home to many people within and outside South Africa the brutalities of the Apartheid regime. )
But what does it mean to you as a person?
Apart from being a public holiday and the lucky ones being allowed to sleep all we want and attend commemorative events, the day is pretty significant, it shows that as the youth you don't have to wait for the future to make a difference. I'm not saying do anything dangerous or get yourself hurt but don't wait for things to happen to you fight for what you believe in like the old saying says: If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything.

Have a good day all

Water Water everywhere and not a drop to drink

So it was seriously raining yesterday, which is good because we have been in a drought recently and we needed the water unfortunetly I think God did a “reply all” on our prayers for rain as it flooded yesterday. Here are some pics from my home town, Uitenhage, hecticness!
I did not take these pics, it was one of those emails that gets sent around so if you know who took them please let me know and I will be sure to credit the photographer.
