If you are like me and prefer making things as stocking fillers instead of venturing into the world of December shopping mayhem, you will love the following DIYs they take like NO time and provide tons of fun for the little ones… I should know as my little one discovered his before I got a chance to stick it in his stocking and he has been loving it:

Shadow Play :)
Aidan LOVES!!!! shadows he can run after his for ages even kissed his shadow the other day, he also LOVES it when we make shadow puppets against his bedroom wall or outside…
I thought that this could be a great chance to teach him something and made very basic shape shadow puppets. . . . just shapes cut out of a cereal box and glued onto sticks – have loads of take-away chop sticks – and I could show him shapes on the wall….
This is super basic though so I looked on the web for ways to make shadow time even more fun here is what I found:
Some great ideas courtesy of my friend pinterest, hehe (click on picture for link)
Honestly I can only do bird and dog, hehehe |
loads of stories to be told |
wow wow, a little torch turns this puppet into a great party favor |
my scissor skills are nowhere near this, but cool none the less |
Weekend in pictures…PLAYDATE FUN!!!
Our Moms Group met up this weekend 🙂 we had a blast and what made it extra special is that we also celebrated a new baby joining our group with a baby shower!!!!
Our host upped the fun by bringing in the super talented Liezel Jacobs from Music&Me to interact with us which was quite a hit….She does sing-along, dance-along, crafts and story time with the kids – which is a great addition to any party – we even got to create a keepsake to take home
We all had a blast and even though the kids still have pretty short attention spans (walking off in the middle of dance routine leaving us to “head, tummy, knees and toes” all by ourselves) they thoroughly enjoyed it…
Aidan especially enjoyed the crafting (which the rest of the moms tease us about because apparently we are soooo used to these things)
Here is our day in pics:
LYNDALL’S SHOWER!
My beautiful and funny yet so sarcastic you don’t know if you want to hit her or hug her, friend Lyndall |
Our layout – we so fancy if you give us time |
it’s a boy in case you didn’t guess |
our host is a baker too, who knew |
100% sugar cocktails, hehehe – candyfloss in a cup FTW |
PLAY TIME:
These two have a love/hate relationship, always so excited to see each other then they don’t interact, hehe |
Yongama always ready for a photo |
always, hehe (Maison, chilling like a boss) |
Jude and Riley, “cooking” up a storm |
CRAFT TIME:
Please note miss photogenic, Gia (soon to be big sis) in the pool |
happier times before Yongama decided painting was not for him |
Gia, poser like her momma… Twins in the background waiting for their turn |
Aidy and me, apparently we are sooooooo used to these things |
Aidan got the finger painting memo wrong – you are not supposed to paint your fingers, or toes for that matter |
finished crafts |
After this picture I realised Aidan was trying to open glitter to “tase” this kid is gonna poop an ornament one day, I swear |
Aidy and his “sister”
No I’m not pregnant, I also didn’t secretly have a daughter over the weekend!!! I just happen to be Godmother to a beautiful little girl named Zoey (mentioned her countless time I’m sure)
Her and Aidan had an impromptu play-date this weekend, when her and her mom came to say hey, so naturally I pulled out the camera:
Matching curly hair 🙂 They look a lot alike for people with no genetic links… |
The stare down |
fake smiles all around |
such a poser 🙂 |
The pressures of being a toddler… |
Fun things to do with little one…
I did some crafting with Aidy this weekend…old-school potato prints (half a potato use a knife to cut out a shape and use it as a stamp) Aidy loved the stamping and we ended up with two sheets of pretty nice looking “wrapping paper”.
Naturally he went into full on crazy-boy mode after a while though and started banging the potato on the table and trying to lick the paint off . . . it was fun while it lasted though.
He likes making things with me, he just has the attention span of a “Something with a short attention span – I cant think now”
It is so much fun watching him learn and create (and sitting still for second).. Here are some great activities I found online, dying to try them all…
this is a MUST!!! |
This seems like a super idea but if the play snow incident taught us anything, he will climb inside box and throw salt all over |
Aidan will love these, he loves anything with eyes |
This isn’t an activity per say…but seems like a brilliant idea |
And I do have some extra bottles at home-must double seal so he doesn’t drink it |
ooooh this looks like fun!!! spaghetti and oaties 🙂 but should I really blur the lines on one of the only things he eats (oaties not raw spaghetti) |
