Face Friday: Blended Eyes

How to apply & blend eye shadow.

Hi Ladies, this where you can have so much fun. Experimenting with colour! Be fearless the possibilities are endless. Shall we?

Step1

Prep the eye area for eye shadow with concealer or an eyelid primer to even out dark circles forget your eye cream or gel before the concealer.

Step2

Apply a neutral nude or flesh tone colour eye shadow over entire lid of the eye. You can apply a bit under the bottom lashes for an open eye look.

Step3

Take your lightest shade in your pallet & apply halfway horizontally & up till your eye crease; starting at the outer corner of your eye.

Steps

Take any other medium shade in your pallet & apply it in the middle of your lower lid next to the lighter shade. Don’t worry if the 2 shadows overlap it will make blending much easier later.

Last step

Apply your darker shade in your pallet also lower lid but next to the middle shadow.

Now for Blending!

You need 2 brushes for this.1 to blend the 1st 2 shades & the 2nd 1 or even a earbud to blend the middle & last shade. Blending doesn’t necessarily mean to totally mix the colours together but to just soften the lines & make it neat.

Blend the darker colour on the outer corner slightly into the eye crease dragging it halfway across. Blend the same dark shade on the bottom lashes.

Now blend the lighter colour from the inner corner of your eye, dragging the brush up just under your bro.You can add more highlighter under the brow to give it more definition for a wide eye look.Blend the same shade till under the bottom lashes connecting it with the dark shade that you also blended on the bottom lashes on from the outer corner.

Complete your look with some mascara,a neutral blusher & nude lipstick or gloss to give it a smouldering day look.

LASTLY…

Ladies start with your neutral nude shades if you are not that confident with blending & if you get that confidence by practicing my methods,y ou’ll be able to conquer any colour pallet! So practice, practice, practice Ladies. Have an awesome weekend.T ill next week mwah!

Face Friday: The nitty gritty

Today’s post from Chantel:
This should have been my first introductory article because hygiene is the 1st thing you need to know before you start using your make up but its not to late to educate you ladies on proper make up hygiene.
The number 1 thing you should know & train yourself on is washing your hands. Please do this before you dip your fingers into any creams or foundation. If not,you will contaminate the product. It sounds vile but its true.We carry so many bacteria on our fingers that cause skin allergies & skin ailments. How do I know if a product is expired?First it will have a smell to it,not a smelly smell but a kind of unusual. If you take a whiff of your foundation when its fresh, its a different smell when its gone off.If the colour of the product changed then yes its gone off too.Oil based lipsticks, concealers & foundations in a tub are the 1st to go off.Anything that has a wand like your mascara are also the first to go off.How do I avoid my make up to go off?Ladies if you are guilty of leaving your make up or cosmetic bag in the car,STOP THAT!If you are sharing your make up with your sisters or friends,STOP THAT!That’s the easiest way to spread germs & gather bacteria.Leaving products exposed to the sun or heat will help bacteria grow on your lipstick, lipgloss, mascara etc.If you have an eye infection stop using make up until your infection cleared up.Use foundations that are in a pump bottle & lipgloss that are in a squeezy tube for better hygiene. What is the shelf life of make up?Once a product is OPENED,bacteria will start to form!Nasty but so true! Some products have the OPEN JAR SYMBOL either on the back or bottom of the package or container. This symbol let’s you know exactly how long a product will stay fresh.Brushes VS SpongesI’m not a fan of sponges as it absorbs more foundation than brushes & sponges cannot be washed. If you invest in good quality brushes you don’t need to use a sponge again. If you are comfy with sponges toss them regularly & buy in bulk.If you love brushes like moi, wash your brushes in luke warm water using a mild shampoo.Do not let water touch the ferrule(the metal part of the brush)as the water will loosen it from the handle.Do this every 2 weeks but wash lipbrushes daily as the lipstick on it will grow bacteria faster.Expiration Chart:These “expiration dates”are taken from the products I have, researching different sites, and personal experience. If you don’t use it as often or are careful how you use your products they can last longer. Powders: 24MFoundation: 24M (usually 12-18M, especially if it’s oil based)Concealer: 24M  (usually 12M if you touch it directly)Liquid Concealer: 6MLiquid Eyeliner: 6MPencil Eyeliner: 18M (usually longer, just sharpen regularly)Mascara: 6M  (usually 3M) *Avoid pumping, instead swirl the wand insideLipgloss: 24M  (usually 12M)Lipstick: 18M  (usually 12M) Lip Liner: 12M  (longer if you sharpen)Nail Polish: 12MSkincare (cream/gels): 12MThe ‘USUALLY’ means if you use it regularly or daily. So Ladies please sharpen those pencils, wash your brushes.Smell your foundation & mascaras & check for the open jar symbol & most important wash your hands.I hope this was useful info,so this weekend take the time to check your make up bag, toss whatever looks & smell funky! Yikes!

FACE FRIDAY: Got my eye on you

Second installment in Face Friday series, brought to you by my lovely
friend Chantel…

Hey Ladies

Liquid liner used to make me cringe, made my hand shake but I finally
mastered this sexy look & made it my signature! This is also the most
easy look to have if you not in the mood for eyeshadow. It can also go
from a daytime look to a smoldering night on the town.

Let me show you how to achieve this look the easy way.Let’s go!

Step 1
Prep the eye area with concealer to even out any dark circles & apply
a neutral shade eyeshadow.

Step 2
Take a normal eyepencil in black or charcoal, draw a line (any
thickness) as close to your top lash line as possible filling in
between the lashes too.

Step3
Take your liquid liner draw a small triangle starting at the outer
tear duct up,completing it by drawing a line down to just before your
eyeliner ends.

Step 4
Be fearless & colour in your triangle.Follow through by following your
eyepencil line as this serves as a guide.End off with a layer of
mascara.

To take this look from day to night, apply a bold colour liner on your
bottom lash line.I used a Cobalt blue.Add extra blusher & a sexy
lipcolour of your choice.
So go on,make your eyes the main attraction this weekend.*wink-wink*
