And this weekend. . .

I spent some time with one of my besties from high school, Jemaine J It’s one of those friendships where we don’t see each other often but when we do it’s like we haven’t spent a moment apart, we hung out Friday evening chatting about nothing and everything. . .

No this is not a studio picture she is just ridiculously photogenic like that, some people *rolls eyes*

Then on Saturday I spent some time with my cousin Che-lynn and her daughter Kirsten. We did some retail therapy and brunch in celebration of Che-lynn’s birthday.
Kirsten (1 years old) had us in stitches with all her opinions (not that one mommy, you must buy the green one, what you doing so long? just take this one and my favourite, wheres the burgers?….she also complained that she was the only one who did not own a laptop *children of today* her chatter drew quite a lot of attention as she is extremely vocal for her age and no1 wanted to believe that her second birthday is still a few months off.

“I’m tired now, I sit with the big dollies”

The rest of the weekend I just. . . .

The weekend in *shody/cellphone* pics

So this weekend was a blur of activity, seriously it’s making work feel like a break *shocker* This is what I got up to (I took pics with my cell-phone, because I couldn’t be bothered to take my camera with me-but huh)

I went to see the group Sterling EQ, for those who don’t know, they do AMAZING instrumental music using “classic” instruments, I was particularly impressed with their cellist who managed to do the can-can while playing (and she’s a PE girl nogal) The boardwalk team where on their game as usual  – esp Siya:)

Sucky pic, but they were truly something, the big head sticking out of the pic is some rude lady who shooshed us, seriously who shooshes in the first 2minutes of a MUSIC SHOW! I’m was still trying to settle into my seat and here she is all SHUSH! imagine that, seeing as a older pair of ladies were chatting no stop throughout the show (right in front of her) and not a single shush , tisk tisk lady tisk tisk

I had a corn dog for the first time, seriously have always wanted to try one, it is most certainly not on list of favourite things, but I’m glad I finally tried one, also had a waffle on a stick, i was clearly going for novelty value over nutrition

had brunch at Topiary lane, a old post-office which has been turned into a quaint coffee shop and bonus it is walking distance from our house

They know Robin there by now, he walks in and they are all, “coffee and farmhouse breakfast?”

My friend Trudy had a surprise Hen Party this weekend, time is ticking down for the wedding there girly 😉

Went to my friend Jenine’s bday party but my phone had died by then *damn blackberry battery life*
This pic is from my wedding

My cousin Desthea had her birthday party on Sunday and my battery was acting up again, but a big happy birthday to her 🙂

Weekend in pictures

Apart from being sick most of the week and weekend I also spent some time with two of my favourite people, Kirsten who came over to our place and gave our court yard a bit of a make-over and Kammy who was at her gran’s house (Rob’s mom) when we went over for Sunday lunch… I ended up doing and impromptu shoot Kammy which can be seen at www.mybutterflylens.blogspot.com   have a great week all. . .

So this weekend . . .

I tried out the big hair thing and a jerseylicious pose, cos I can

I had breakfast with my fave man at our fav place (Saffron)

I hung out with my niece Kammy, she’s getting so big now, sheez

and we lost, one of the most amazing people I have ever had the honour of knowing
Kayla, you will be missed!!! 🙁

My weekend in pictures (minus the pictures)

So it might look like I’m posting a thousand (some call it 3) things today and the reason for that is; I posted Friday and Saturday and only realised today that those posts never actually made it online. . .
Ah the wonders of technology, sometimes I think we put too much into our relationships with technology, like my blackberry that has been in for repairs the last 3 weeks and has me going through some withdrawal symptoms…
I didn’t do much this weekend, as my body decided it’s time I got sick again, OH JOY but not before I went to the dentist Friday morning, Dentists scare me. Yes they do, I  hate visiting the Dentist, Rob loves it, don’t ask my why, but I don’t, with the drilling and the needles and the talking to you when you can clearly not respond and making you rinse your mouth when your face is paralysed and you end up dribbling all over yourself and did I mention the drilling and needles, I’m getting Phantom Pains just thinking out it.
My new dentist is actually quite a hottie NO this will not make me go more often, it’s just a observation, he is young and cute and nice, the polar opposite of my previous dentist who was, and probably still is, a grumpy old man!
Side bar: My optometrist is pretty cute too, my GP is a very nice lady, but not my type, hehehe.

That was Friday, then Saturday I woke up suffering from the plague (some call it bad flu) coughing, headache, body pains, the works, I’m actually still trying to recover, and also realised my swelling was back!!! I suffer from terrible water retention, seriously I weighed myself  (I have a scale in my bathroom, bad idea I know),  on Friday and then again on Saturday – when I looked like a Oompa Loompa (in roundness, not in colour) and I’d gained 4.5kgs.
Crazy huh! The random swelling has been coming on a while now, and got much worse when I was pregnant, Dr has run every test imaginable and everything seems 100s, she tells me there seems to be nothing causing it, kidneys, thyroid, everything, checks out fine.
So the she told me to look our for things in my lifestyle that could be causing it and I think I finally figured it out; and it’s so stupid and not really curable, basically:
If I’m sick, any kind of infection at all my body retaliates by swelling up, So when my broken tooth was really sore and slightly infected, that made me swell up slightly, then I got the flu and it made me swell up badly, I also burned my arm not to long ago and was slightly swollen after that, and before that had a kidney infection: super swollen, so yes, its like I have the lamest super power ever I’m a fast healer; get over infections, even cuts and burns and (praying) the flu quicker than most people, but in return I have to blow up like a blimp while I recover, fair trade? the jury is still out on that one. . .
I googled my theory and found a number of discussions and forums where other people complain about this phenom, so turns out to keep myself from inflating I need to keep myself healthy (easier said than done)
That’s my weekend; bed, homemade chicken soup from Rob (because he is the bestest) and Disney channel movies, they sure do recycle actors hey.

Have a great week 🙂

My weekend in pics

I had one of those weekends when you do so much and yet so little it kinda passes in a flash, I had my phone with me though so I was able to capture some memories:

– It was our church’s bazaar this weekend, I usually do face-painting (have for over 6 years) but this year I was just not up for it, too emotionally drained maybe, hopefully I’ll be back in the swing of things next year. I got to spend time with my God daughter Zoey (15month) and my “niece” Taylor though 🙂

– I went to a very close friend’s baby shower after. Danelle and I were due a week apart and shared everything on the journey, we teased that its like we were each carrying one of a set of twins so attending her shower, knowing there’s no more Logan, was a bitter sweet experience, it’s a strange feeling to be both extremely happy for someone else and sad for yourself at the same time. I had a blast though, its amazing what you can achieve when u remind yourself, “its not about you, true friendship trumps uncomfortability”. Can’t wait for little Hananiah

– That eve I went out for wine and live entertainment, but not before “the hostess with the mostest” Salama made us some super yum snacks at their place-so this weekend was basically,”diet? What diet”. Oh it turns out, NO ALCOHOL FOR ELLE anymore. After the wine my inflammation situation flared up back to stage 1 and the meds were working so well 🙁 but hey, at least I know now.

-Sunday, I did some shopping with Rob, wanted jeans (ones that actually fit!!!) But I’m not prepared to wear old lady pants so I’m waiting for diet and exercise to work before I get new jeans and settled for 2 tops. I also “helped” my sister study, don’t know if I did anything except help keep her awake, hehe

That was my weekend 🙂
Hope you enjoyed yours
