How a blogger staff party became a thing

This weekend we had a blogger staff party. Well it was #ecmeetup, the mini meet which I’m calling a blogger staff party, because I don’t have any other staff parties to attend. And it was so much fun.

I mean we had load shedding right in the middle of the party, but no one batted an eye, we lit some lamps and continued.

None of the fun would have been possible if it wasn’t for our sponsors though.

We keep the “goodibags” for the main meetup but still had some tricks up out sleeves.

On arrival guest received a leather look vanity bag from Iwori Beauty, filled to the brim with their new face and body range. On the tables we had themed cookies from Candy Coated Caterers The Herald Live sponsored wine with labels from Courtney Creative

We played pass the parcel and instead of trinkets, winners walked away with face masks from Dischem, yoga class voucher cards from Zen Lotus Yoga Studio and vouchers from Boost Juice.

We had a pretty competitive game of dirty Santa (the game where you can “steal” someone else’s gift) and friendships were almost ruined hahaha. Prizes/Gifts included restaurant vouchers from Fushin, Asada and Fish Finders. Beauty product hampers from Woolworths Beauty Walmer Park, Annique, Dischem and Serenity Hair. Product hampers from Vodacom, Christian Art Media, Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism, Nutristart and sport massage vouchers from Just Basics Sports Massage

Our event venue, Bonamia served a delicious three course meal which I’m having some regrets about, I spoke so much I hardly ate, when will I learn! And our desserts where extra special with the addition of cupcakes from Velvet and Vanilla Cakery that butter cream frosting!!!

In addition to a night full of laughs and selfies bloggers also left with 2019 start up packs. These were desk pads from Nutristart, stunning notebooks from Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism and flash drives from BLC attorneys. We added Halo water, Mastertons coffee, body products from Johnsons skincare, Caribbean tan body scrub, women’s lip products from Essence and men’s from Just the basics. Male bloggers also got socks from Mohair SA and cellphone Evergreen Design Bench because we know our bags can be a little feminine at times.

A giant thank you to everyone who made Saturday possible. We appreciate you so much.
