Take a look at Jill’s stuff

Thursday’s are for featuring interesting people… For me and this blog that is usually other bloggers or creatives/artists. I really love creative people, and love to showcase people’s talents so with that in mind meet Jill, she was featured here before for Meatless MondayJill makes these awesome pants, maxalones, they have more space for cloth nappies, she really only makes them for her boys but when she has extra fabric she sells rem on her fb page Jill’s Stuff.

Tell us a little about yourself?

So I am a 30yr old mom with 2 very active boys. A 2yr old and a 5 month old. I am currently on maternity leave till end August… lucky me!

Where does your business name come from?

Jill’s Stuff is not really a business name as I did not set out to start a business. I wanted to start making bum pants “maxaloones” for my sons, with the custom fabrics available in the US, but the cost of the fabric and shipping is very expensive, so I figured I could make what I wanted and then sell the rest to recoup costs.

How did it come about?

I decided on bum pants as my sons were both wearing cloth diapers and normal pants tend not to fit to well over them. I also like the fact that they could be worn over long periods of time (size one can be worn from 6 months to 3yrs).

Where do you draw inspiration from?

I belong to many US based WAHM (work at home mom) groups. Most of them have their own FB pages and post pictures of completed products. This gives me some idea of what prints are available and what patterns they were being used with.

How long does it take to finish one?

It takes about 4hrs from cutting to completion. Cutting takes the longest and attaching the bum circle, otherwise it’s a very straight forward, simple pattern.

What to you is a job well done?

For me a job well done is feedback from people who bought a pants. I love hearing that they love it. I also love seeing my toddler running around in one and thinking, wow, I made that!

What are your dreams for your business?

I don’t have any dreams for my business as I don’t think of it as a business, I’m not making any money, in fact I would probably save money by stopping as I am addicted to buying fabric!

How do people get hold of you?

I have a FB page, Jill’s stuff and I load pictures of completed pants on the page. Some of them are for sale, others are just to show what I have made.
