Upcycling belts into jewellery

I spent some time upcycling belts into jewellery this weekend and I thought; hey maybe someone else has some belts they’d like to upcycle.

I started out with two old belts and ended up with four pairs of earrings and two pairs of hair clips.

How to upcycle belts into jewellery

What you need

  • Belts you no longer use
  • Scissors
  • Paper and pen
  • Earring hooks (you can detach hooks from mismatched earrings if you don’t have hooks)
  • Earring flatbacks (you could also break these off mismatched earrings as well)
  • Hair clips
  • Epoxy glue

What you do

Leather hand earrings

  • Cut leather shapes out of a soft flexible belt
  • Punch holes for hooks, personality I used the precut holes on the belt to save time (you can punch new ones but if you’re stuck for time the wholes are there already)
  • Attach earring hooks

Leather studs

  • Cut leather shapes out of stiff leather belt
  • Mix epoxy glue
  • Glue flatbacks to the back and wait for it to dry

Leather hair pins

  • Cut leather shapes out of stiff leather belt
  • Mix epoxy glue
  • Glue pins to the back and wait for it to dry

I kept the rest of the leather and the buckles for future attempts at upcycling belts… Comment with any ideas you might have
