When Vertex sent me a mop to test out I was a little nervous , honestly what could I say about a mop? The vertex website makes claims about this mop being amazing and as a bonofide “liker of things” I wanted to see if it was worth the hype. It didn’t hurt that they were offering one of these fancy mops to one of my readers (competition below). So I called in my mom and we checked if this dry mop/wet mop/broom/window cleaner was all it was cracked up to be.
Disclaimer: I got my mom involved as she has been a home maker for thirty years now, she is very precise about how things should look and I thought she would be a nice contrast to me who just wants minimal effort so I can move on with the other billions things going on in my head.
I saw the price (R619) and wondered if this thing would be bringing me coffee, surely?! I mean I could pay someone to come clean my whole house for that price and still have money left over for taxi fare – don’t act like you weren’t thinking it.
The Vertex is cute though, as cleaning supplies go, it’s an attractive mop (is that even a thing) and it’s sturdy, Liam is learning to walk and bumped into it twice without water spilling all over. It’s also pretty user friendly… check the video below:
You wash it on one side by sticking the mop in to the wash area of the bucket then remove excess water in the dry section(not rocket science) you then clean your floor, your windows or whatever and literally rinse repeat.
I love that the mop doesn’t wet your floor, it cleans but there is none of that , “watch out the floor is wet”. My son and nephews are always running around and trying to keep three boys under five out of a room is NOT EASY.
I had a moment when I was like “oh not this thing is crap” because the micro fiber attachment kept rolling up as I tried to stick it in the bucket, turns out I had it the wrong way around… Once I realised I was a dufus,I could turn it around and honestly I quite like it and it now slides in and out with practically no effort – even Aidan could do it.
It has an extended handle to wash the windows or if you were super lazy you could extend it and wash the floor from one single spot (just a thought) I love that it’s easy to use, is easy to control (none of that getting stuck like a trolley with a wonky wheel)
My mom (Angie, in case you wondered)
She loved that she didn’t have to pull out different cleaning supplies (for windows and floors) and that the mop actually seems to do what it said. The dry mop feature is great for wooden floors especially in old houses like my parents’ place.
My mom also loved that she could deal with the boys spills rather seamlessly (all three stay with her after school so there are spills aplenty) So she can mop up and stick the mop back in the bucket for later
Having bought a lot of the “As seen on TV” mops in her day she says she would gladly spend the money on this one, it is completely flat unlike the others and the bucket is not flimsy…so it’s a yes from her
