Aidan at three

It’s time for a Aidy update again.

I’ve gone from doing this once a month in his first year of life to once a year when I can remember.

Well I remembered 🙂 so here goes. Although I love sharing about my baby these posts are really for me to look back on and be ridiculously shocked at how “fast time flies”.

A fluy third birthday

My angel turned three yesterday unfortunately he was not feeling well AT ALL.
All he wanted was a party at school and although we organised that, he ended up coming home with me because he had a fever and was feeling pretty miserable.
My poor kid seems to have the worst luck with birthday parties… but hey all’s well that ends well… here are some pictures from yesterday.

When the baby talks back

Aidan will be three in April and is such a chatterbox… I thought I’d share some of his comments with you guys 🙂 Disclaimer: He replaces the R sound with L and when there is a L in a word he just skips it, hahaha

-(While watching TV) I can’t see nicely I maybe need glasses (Rob and I both wear glasses, think he feels left out)

-Ma looks sad ill take her some of my happy biscuits (crackers) Then watches her eat while asking if she’s happy yet

-We don’t have to buy Caleb birthday gifts he can just share with me and other people can buy for me and I’ll share that too

-Sorry I’m nagging maybe I’m tired

– (We are always arguing about eating) You don’t have to keep giving me lots of foods I only want toast, cereal, apples and yogurt, easy, see

-They don’t pay you at school I want to work rather

-(Replying to someone asking Caleb’s name)…You know he can’t tell you because he can’t talk

– (Caleb trying to get Aidan’s attention) You must use your words, no one understands you

– I’m only going to talk in singing so you must sing at me today

-I don’t want to wear pajamas tonight, can I sleep in a tummy and legs rather

-(Seeing the sun stream through the door)… its going to get hot here, better find shade

– It’s fun in Caleb town (Cape Town) we must come again

– (Me doing yoga) Why you sleeping on the floor, is the bed broken? (comes running to me with pillows) the pelloes will help

– Oh no it’s the moon (I ask why he is upset at the moon) the moon means night time then you are going to want to dudu (sleep)

– (I tell him to get ready for sleep) It’s okay you can dudu I will play quietly (reduces volume on his leap pad)

This is such a fun stage, have your kids said anything funny lately?

Aidan has a brother, sort of

I have mentioned before that we are very happy as parents of an only. We are lucky in that even though he is technically an only we come from such a tight knit family that he is always surrounded by friends/family. His older cousins (my cousin’s kids and Robs brother’s kids) are his heroes and there are tons of play dates.  These days it’s even better because he gets to play “big brother” to my sister’s son who lives next door… the two are practically joined at the hip and we can already see how much mischief these two are likely to get up to.

Here is a bit of an update on the little 7 month old busy body

APPEARANCE:   Adorable little thing, he has a small build like his mom and is just as feisty. Dark wavy hair and tiny “disappear when he smiles” eyes… Also stunning dimples and a very prominent cleft in his chin.

PERSONALITY: This kid is too big for his boots. He interacts with Aidan so well and will poke and prod at him till he wakes up to play with him. He spends some time in a walker during the day and mostly chases Aidan around my mom’s dining room table.  He actually NEVER sits still EVER he is ALWAYS ready to play and is full of smiles and energy. He also manages to get Aidan to help him with mischief like opening doors for him and putting things in reach.

ROUTINE:  I don’t see his day to day but according to his mom he doesn’t sleep and is busssssy oh so busy (but I know that part).

LOVES: Eating (Aidan has even tried to trick him into finishing his food and I swear if we didn’t intervene he would) banging things and the outdoors.

DISLIKES: sitting still, being held tightly, anything that restricts movement actually.

MOM:  Is doing amazing and I am very proud of her.

Aidan at two and a half

I have not done an Aidy update in forever OMW not since like 16 months!!!
Yes I chatted about him, I do all the time, sorry, but I haven’t done the list, so here goes…
Aidan at 30months which is exactly 2 and a half (shame I have been referring to him as 2 and a half for ages now…oops)

APPEARANCE: He is such a beaut (yes I’m biased). The kid is rather pale (sheme Edward Cullen) and seems to have his fathers height going for him. He is quite skinny but according to healthcare professionals he is growing nicely. He also has curly hair cut/styled into a faux hawk because it’s easier to take care of (and adorable).

PERSONALITY: He talks NON STOP and his vocab takes me by surprise most days. He is shy in large social settings; he plays well with others, but prefers one-on-one play dates to group activities. Aidan is very witty and loves making jokes even if it is referring to people by other names to get a laugh or acting silly, he loves making people smile.

HE CAN NOW:  His vocabulary is pretty good, he speaks in full on sentences and will ask me what does …. mean when he hears a word he doesn’t understand. He can count (till 20ish), knows his shapes and colours and sings the alphabet (sorta: LemENOpee). He has a unique way of looking at things he told me that a heart is two circles and a triangle and a star is lots of triangles. He asks me things like “what do they do that for” instead of the usual “why”. He is quite the creative, play dough is his favorite activity but anything in the crafting realm makes him very happy.

LOVES: His Caleb (my sister’s son) he has really grown into the “big cousin” role so well it warms my heart. He loooves watching craft tutorials on YouTube and playing with play dough NEVER gets old. He enjoys running around and riding his bike. He is also extremely busy and climbs absolutely everything and anything.

DISLIKES: Meat “please don’t eat the chickens mommy” he also dislikes the naughty chair and sitting still or being QUIET FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!! honestly the only time he is not talking is when he is singing. He suddenly can’t stand milk and has an aversion to staying in one place.

MOM:  Is so proud of her little boy but also has to be careful of what she does and says around him. She is still concerned about his eating but feels better as he adds another food to his repertoire every now and again. cream cheese sandwiches are a thing now 🙂
