Have you heard of Mari’s Fudge and Brittle?  It’s a sweets company started in the Western Cape and thanks to agents like Marlese Strydom, it is now available nationwide.

Marlese was one of the vendors at the KFC Herald Country Fair.   this is where I sampled some of the treats and OMW!!! it was ridiculously good! (yes I know I am not supposed to have sugar, so I reluctantly shared) She has agreed to add my all time favourite Mari’s treat to the competition bag and the winner is going to love me for it.

My favourite is the Choc Almond Brittle “Caramelized sugar with cream and salted popcorn mixed in. Topped with Almonds and Dark Choc.”  It is soooo good! Rob had to pry the box out of my hands. They do have other flavours and also fudge (as the name suggests)

Marlese became an agent for Mari’s this year when she learnt that her job of the past 25 years was in jeopardy.

“I am about to lose my job due to restructuring and knew I had to start something.  While attending the home expo I met Ivor Trollip (husband to business founder Marie-Louise Trollip), he was there selling brittle and fudge and I bought from him. I’m not a big ‘sweets person’, but two months after that we had a big work meeting and everyone  was very stressed. I wanted to lightened the mood so I opened the  jar and shared with my colleagues.

“People looked surprised about the taste, I was down to the last bit in the jar and decided taste myself. Oh ! how wonderfully surprised I was.” she said

This prompted her to contact Ivor and become the official distributor for the Eastern Cape.
